Add video on casted TV device for podcasts casted via Chromecast/Roku etc.

Podcasts that currently have video available on your mobile or desktop device, lose the video feature once you cast it to a TV via Chromecast. This is a major surprise as this is a frequent way of watching video podcasts on TV. Please consider casting the video part of the podcast along with the audio on casted devices.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that this feature is now available on multiple big screen devices, such as Chromecast and Roku (Roku TVs with firmware 8.2/ Roku Set top Boxes with firmware 9.0).

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Its absolutely ridiculous this hasn't been resolved. Its obviously a major inconvenience to your subscribers. How can have the largest podcast on earth and not give video access. It should have been available from day one and here we are months later and still nothing. Smart TVs and gaming consoles should have video playback functionality immediately, whats the hold up!?

Why would you guys take on a podcast with so many visuals, like Joe Rogan, and then not even be able to support the experience correctly. Super lame.

Unfortunately folks, I don’t think they are listening. Nor do I think they care 😐😑  Guess I’ll be canceling my subscription.  I’ll just keep checking YouTube for the pirated podcasts like everyone else 🤷🏻‍ (I’ve left a comment here a number of weeks ago... no response.  NADA.  ZILTCH.)

iTunes is more user-friendly anyway.

There "may" be changes coming soon folks. I was just listening to JRE with Tim Dillon today. About 78 minutes in, he talks about how he talked to Spotify about how important the video aspect is to his podcast and that this and other changes/improvements are coming. So maybe he has been seeing our emails, talked to the big wigs at Spotify and we will see the changes we all have been discussing. Fingers crossed!

I’m glad we were able to get an update on this issue from a Spotify user and not the actual Spotify employees 🙂
Thanks for your insight! Gotta catch up and listen to that pod!!

Thank you, angermgmt20!  I did notice that while watching the Tim Dillon podcast on my tiny iPhone 7 screen a bit later last night (as opposed to my TV/Roku..... which would be nice.  A bit less of a headache - literally.  I miss the ease of the YouTube app on Roku for JRE podcasts).

Ksabz - yeah, exactly!  LOL

As this takes way to long, let's turn around the issue.
I will not renew my Premium subscription as long as I can not Watch Joe Rogan podcast on the Spotify app on my smart TV. Let's see who needs who more..

Whoever is in charge of this needs to be ran over by a tractor and then thrown in a woodchipper.

Their interface is fine for 3 minute songs but it’s terrible for a podcasts. I have canceled my premium subscription until they think it’s important enough to fix.
