[All Platforms] Light Mode option

Hi,

The new white text on black design physically hurts my eyes and gives very bad ghosting (i.e. persistent image like those in optical illusions that make you stare at particular color combinations and then look away). I know I'm not the only one with this issue because I've researched it in the past. Without an option to switch back to the old design (White background/black text), I'll need to delete my Spotify account and find another service. Please add an option to switch between the two (because I know many prefer black backgrounds). Myself and a host of others, however, cannot use these color combinations. Please let me know if there is a work-around; it would be much appreciated. It's basically unusable to me in it's current state.

Hey folks,

This idea has been moved to a wrong place in the forum but is now back in its place.

We're keeping the status of Not Right Now as we still don't have any immediate plans to implement this, however, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status if we have any news to share.

Thanks!

A few votes away from 6,000 (as of June 2023) and it's not important?  Dark mode (on any webpage/app) does not work well in bright conditions such as being outside.  If Spotify can't fix this without too much effort it means they've designed their code poorly.  Styling & UI should be decoupled from other functions.

The only way forward for Spotify, is that Elon Musk purchase the company and fires the 4.000 people who are blocking change of the product...

Please implement this function ASAP! We need this feature so bad.

People have been requesting this feature for almost 9 years now and yet Spotify keeps insisting that it's not needed. It would be nice if the actually listened to their community. As I mentioned in my previous comment it would be nice to have the option to switch between UIs. So, Spotify, don't be so damn ignorant, look at what your competitors are offering on this matter and PLEASE start doing the same.

So do the alternatives support the light theme?

Especially in car with 600 nits screen with AG Matte Layer on top, i still can't see anything when the sun is out. I imagine it is even worse on current vehicles with glossy screens on top of the dash

It would be very useful!

On the app the background is dark and there’s a gradient of color from whatever albums are on your playlist cover, icons are in green and letters in white and grey. I love the gradient colors from the album covers and stuff and green is their signature color, okay got it. But the background is always black and I much prefer light modes on all my apps. I know, I got issues, but dark color schemes give me anxiety man they stress me out. I’d love if there was an opposite version for a light mode. Same color gradients and all that stuff, you could even still use white letters with a black outline. But a light mode would be a game changer because how do I listen to my anti mental breakdown playlist when looking at the playlist makes me wanna have a mental breakdown?

The black screen is difficult/stressful for me to see/look at. Would like to be able to change to lighter color, like changing from dark mode to light mode on Apple devices. Thank you

I think dark themes are not popular any more. Please implement the bright theme in the apps.
