[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

That awful podcasts is worse than ever. "Shows to try" takes up half my screen and I'm constantly reminded how awful Spotify is by placing a jackoff's mugshot right in the middle of it. Spotify is having a laugh.

You're just not listening to your users. Get rid of podcasts or me? I guess it will be me then... my annual subscription is up next month and I'll be moving to Amazon.

So now you can delete items from the homepage in the IOS app - I don't know about other apps and it doesn't work for me on desktop. So I delete every podcast that appears.

However, they then reappear in other categories and Spotify just keep coming up with different titles for the categories to justify them reappearing. After the first round of deletions I made, the resulting message said something along the lines 'OK, we won't show you this type of content anymore'.

Now there has presumably been a rush on people deleting podcasts and the message says 'We'll hide it for 90 days' and they've made the app crash after every three deletes to try and put us off.  They underestimate me...and, how pathetic.

I'm fairly sure that people who are offended enough to delete something in the first place, will still be offended in three months' time.  I wonder if there has been a legal challenge around offensive/unsuitable content but they are able to reintroduce it after 3 months?

You can now mark individual podcasts as not interested in the Android app. The notice says they're only hidden for 90 days but it's a start!

I went though and hid every podcast recommended and miracle of miracles the whole podcast section went away!

The problem is these choices don't seem to be copied over to the web interface on my PC I still see all the same podcasts listed there :o(

It's a start Spotify  but please let me hide podcasts on all devices and permanently.. I pay for your service to listen to music!

Any podcasts I do listen to ( separate app) that get sucked into Spotify-only just get deleted.

Please let me remove podcasts from my spotify account. They're not what I come here for.

I updated my android app as soon as I could.

I had to tap individual episodes of random podcasts on my home page and select 'not interested' for each and every single one individually. Eventually, the whole 'episodes for you' thing disappeared.

I close and reopen the app to make sure that gone is gone, and 'episodes for you' is replaced with 'shows to try'. So I do the whole thing again. Tap. Hold. Not interested. Next. Until 'shows to try' is gone. I close and re-open the app again and 'shows to try' is back YET AGAIN.

I check my desktop and the episodes/shows I already said 'no' to in the app are there!

I don't think this new feature was made with OP's suggestion in mind. Hopefully Spotify will see OP's suggestion one day and maybe consider it.

By the way I think it's super filthy of Spotify to only hide things for 90 days, too. No means no. No does not mean "maybe in 3 months hee hee". It means no. Let me at least.... customize the amount of days so I can just enter 99999 or something.

Please.

I checked if I could hide Podcasts on my iPhone, and I could for 90 days. Fun thing is that the app crashed for every 2-3 podcast i did hide.

I might have stayed if you did this two years ago, but because I now know how good Apple Music is, I don't think I will ever return.

Possible workaround for the "crash every 3" -> When I did the hiding while playing music, the app did not crash

paulove

I did the same on my iPad, and it didn't crash as often, but now my Daily Mixes are labeled

"Everything about the world right now"

Spotify are just inkompetente in doing anything.

I don't care anymore, Apple Music is just perfect for me. I have Apple one where I get a lot more than music for not much more money than a Spotify Premium does cost.

Jazzchilli

Tried playing music while deleting but it's not working for me...in fact it's crashing after every delete now. If this really is deliberate, have you ever encountered another company with such blatant disrespect for it's (paying) users? Actually there probably are plenty but I struggle to think of any in the entertainment sphere...

Please for the love of God at least let me remove the podcast suggestions from my home page. I happened to listen to a sober podcast ONCE, and now every time I open my home page I see some variation of "AA" podcast. When I have friends over and open Spotify on my TV -- now I always get questions about a drinking problem. This is messed up!!

Fine, track what podcasts I listen to, that's your whole business model, but at least don't make it so visible if I so choose. It is actually harmful.
