Hi everyone,
With the recent rollout of the new "Podcast Clips" feature, Spotify removed the ability to directly add specific podcast chapters to our personal playlists from the chapter overview. This is a massive step backward for user experience.
Here is why this change is highly user-unfriendly:
- Disrespecting Creators' Work: Podcasters spend a lot of time and effort creating precise chapter markers and timestamps for their episodes. Removing the option to simply save these existing chapters completely devalues their work.
- Overcomplicating a Simple Workflow: Previously, saving a specific chapter to a playlist took exactly two clicks. Now, we are forced to use the scissors icon, manually trim or select a clip, save it to a separate "Your Clips" folder, and only then can we move it to a playlist. It turns a seamless feature into a tedious multi-step process.
- Forcing Features onto Users: While sharing clips on social media might be nice for some, forcing this trimming tool onto users who just want to archive and organize specific educational or interesting podcast segments in their playlists makes no sense.
Please don't replace functional archiving features with social-media-focused tools. Existing playlists that contain chapters still work perfectly, which proves that the technical foundation is still there.
Please bring back the "Add to Playlist" button directly in the chapter overview!
