Bring back "Pin playlists to homescreen"

According to a discussion on https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Move-playlists-to-Homescreen/td-p/5453989 it is "currently not available".

Albums are possible to be pinned to the homescreen, but the support to do the same with playlists is removed recently

Through this way I would like to request to add this functionality back to the android app

***update: I did get a playlist shortcut back on my Android homescreen finally. Try going into the app drawer, long press on the Spotify icon, the Playlist i wanted popped up in the context menu, another long press sent it to the homescreen.

***update 2: Wasn't sure at first how to control what playlists show up in the long press pop-up but so far it has worked by navigating to the Playlist and hitting the phone's homescreen button and going back through the long-press process above. Each time the most recently displayed playlist in the app was visible in the pop-up.

I'm a little late to this party. My last two phones had the shortcuts automatically transferred over by the phone backup service; so I had no idea this had been removed until my most recent phone transfer didn't bring them with it! Super bummed. I used those homescreen shortcuts literally every day.

Like @phrozenstare mentioned, my work vehicle is a Ford Transit van fleet vehicle. No android auto even though it's a 2019 so the shortcut was a huge lifesaver while driving. Not every new vehicle has fancy tech.

Why are you removing this useful feature?

Hope we get this soon back, so I can access all important playlists direct without searching for them in the app.

Why on earth was it even decided to remove this feature?  Let me guess... just for commercial reasons, to not only play the same Playlist over and over again?

It can't likely be technical, because existing bookmarks still work. Being outright evil doesn't make sense, but it's possible.

After a day or two pondering it, I can only assume that it "lowers engagement" or some such thing.

On the flipside, that would be absolutely foolish. It makes interaction with the app easy! I'm paying for the product! I want it more when it behaves how I want. So if some UX marketing guru thinks it was a way to increase revenue, that would be silly.

Spotify hasn't responded to this in any way becoming of a decent customer service department. We'll continue to wait. Maybe if a tech journal picks it up.

Bring that feature back for sure, it was such a handy shortcut

Julicsosa

Please nring back this feature. It was so much more comfortable than having to enter the app, look for the playlist and play it from there. By having it on the homescreen the steps are less and it starts playing right away.

For those reading, Spotify has a market cap of about $25 billion and has 200 million paying subscribers. They'll get to your suggestion as soon as possible.

Why has this been treated as a new suggestion? It was a good feature that was suddenly removed and is causing many people a problem.  If this many people have bothered to comment how many more must be unhappy with this?

tvkanters

A new feature is currently being rolled out that allows you to create a shortcut to the page you last visited on in the app. After visiting a page and long-pressing launcher icon, the page will be shown as shortcut that can be dragged onto your home screen. This works for playlists and artists as well as nearly all other pages, such as Made for You.
If you don't have the feature yet, it should become available soon.

Spotify. Bring BACK Add To Homescreen. Please? 😔

@tvkanters This works for me, but the shortcut icons have no art. Just blank white means I have to read the title instead of knowing at a glance. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
