Bring back "Pin playlists to homescreen"

According to a discussion on https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Move-playlists-to-Homescreen/td-p/5453989 it is "currently not available".

Albums are possible to be pinned to the homescreen, but the support to do the same with playlists is removed recently

Through this way I would like to request to add this functionality back to the android app

***update: I did get a playlist shortcut back on my Android homescreen finally. Try going into the app drawer, long press on the Spotify icon, the Playlist i wanted popped up in the context menu, another long press sent it to the homescreen.

***update 2: Wasn't sure at first how to control what playlists show up in the long press pop-up but so far it has worked by navigating to the Playlist and hitting the phone's homescreen button and going back through the long-press process above. Each time the most recently displayed playlist in the app was visible in the pop-up.

I'm a little late to this party. My last two phones had the shortcuts automatically transferred over by the phone backup service; so I had no idea this had been removed until my most recent phone transfer didn't bring them with it! Super bummed. I used those homescreen shortcuts literally every day.

Like @phrozenstare mentioned, my work vehicle is a Ford Transit van fleet vehicle. No android auto even though it's a 2019 so the shortcut was a huge lifesaver while driving. Not every new vehicle has fancy tech.

User 0kfi-fr_ls80q has put the nail in Spotify developer coffin coffees scheme,

0kfi-fr_ls80q "Unfortunately Spotify is looking for money more and more and that feature

isn't good for their business model.

They make more money suggesting music from new or unknown artists to you

then from your paid subscription.

So when you listen to your own playlist over and over again, they make less

money.

Their goal is to make you go in the app to look for your playlists, so in

the app they will softly force you to listen to something else."

So you're just extra $$$ for revenue that beyond what you're monthly subscription is paying.

They don't care about user experience!

Hello again Spotify folks ---

We have gotten 573 votes on this request from November to January in a little over two months time.

You suggest for us to visit your link to see how the Idea Exchange works here at Spotify, but no one has updated this request according to that rubric that is listed on the very page you mention for us to visit:

So can we please either have this status updated so it gets in front of the developers at Spotify or can you tell us the truth if you have no intentions of bringing this back so we can find a different paid service who will listen to the users when it comes to app version "enhancements" that are actually not enhancements at all?

Thank you.

I just dm'ed moderator Joan to bring this topic and the 500+ votes under attention. Hope it helps, I really miss this feature so much.

I have to say I'm a bit lost with this one. This isn't a new idea and shouldn't have been classified as one. We're asking for functionality that was already there and either intentionally or unintentionally was removed.

It shouldn't need votes, it just needs someone at Spotify to put it back in place.

Please bring this feature back. It was very useful.

Please bring back the feature to create shortcuts to playlists on the Android home screen. We play music each night when we put the kids to bed. It was super handy to have shortcuts to their favourite playlists directly in the Android home screen! It is a feature we use on daily basis! I still have my old shortcuts but I can't create new ones.

absolute shocking when i found out spotify doesn't support pin on home screen option! we need it back. i like to explore new music, artists and albums all the time i cannot save them to listen for later on spotify and pin it on my home screen it was a very handful tool that you took away from us. if so, find a way for us to save albums or artists etc. to go back to and listen to in our own timing. why on earth you took that option from us? I'm gutted. now i got to wait for a vote to come through and another future god-knows-when update to do my favourite thing on spotify! just bring-it-back!

Bring it back!

I deleted and reinstalled my app recently which removed the playlists I had on my home screen. Had I known this feature was no longer offered I wouldn't have deleted the app. Seems a funny thing to remove. Would like to have it brought back.

I was redirected from Spotify support mail to this idea. I'm dealing with the same problem after upgrading Spotify app from 8.4.90.722 to 8.8.2.434. There's no way to do it in app nor through android interface.

Bringing back the option is a must to keep app's conveniences.
