Hello community,

what do you think about a function that allows you to read tabs or chords to songs? At the moment there is, for example, Ultimate Guitar or Chordify. With this tools u can read Chords & Tabs from few instrumnets like guitar, flute, bass etc Iam self a guitarist and these features in Spotify would be really exciting!

was würdet ihr von einer Funktion halten, mit der Tabs ß Chords zu jedem Song angezeigt werden würden. Im moment gibt es zb Ultimate Guitar oder Chrodify. Mit diesen Tools können Tabs und Chords zu verschiedenen Istrumenten eingesehen werden wie zb Gitarre, Bass oder Flöte. Ich bin selbst Gitarrist und würde das richtig gut finden!

I think this function would really level up Spotify as an app. When I'm playing along with a song it's so annoying to switch apps from Spotify to UG and to scroll mid song, but if you could toggle show/hide the chords to a song with the time synced lyrics it would be such a game changer and save a ton of time.

I’d love to see guitar tabs integrated directly into the Spotify app. Having built-in tabs would let me learn and play along without switching to another application, making practice sessions much smoother and more engaging.

It would be amazing if Spotify could display guitar, piano, or ukulele chords synchronized with the song, just like it currently does with lyrics.

This feature would allow users to play their favorite songs while listening, encouraging musical learning and making the experience much more interactive. Many musicians, students, and content creators use Spotify as their main platform, and this tool would let them practice directly without needing external apps.

Suggested features:

• Display chords above or alongside the lyrics in real time.

• Allow users to switch between instruments (guitar, piano, ukulele).

• Option to change the song’s key or use a capo.

• “Practice mode” to slow down playback while keeping the pitch.

• Let artists, composers, or their labels upload and approve the chords themselves, ensuring accuracy and respecting copyright.

This would not only add educational value but also create a new way for artists to connect with their audience — sharing how their music was truly composed.

- You already have the option to show the lyrics

- Why don’t we add another option to reflect the chords 

- It can be another layer of payment or could come with the premium subscription. Your call

It would be extremely cool (especially for those who play guitar etc) to have the ability to display the chords (or tabs) for a song in the current lyrics display.  You could add a feature to toggle the chords/tabs on and off for those who don’t want it. 

Source of the chords could either be AI generated, or other 3rd party sources such as Ultimate Guitar, songster, YouTube, Guitar Tab Universe, etc

Just like lyrics are available for a lot of songs. It would be great if tabs/chords/notes could be available for every instrument in a song. So you could for example choose to press the lyrics button and see lyrics, or press a guitar button and see guitar tabs/chords etc. And so on for every instrument.

I'd love to see Spotify add a Musician Mode alongside the existing Lyrics feature.

When viewing lyrics, users could enable a mode that displays the song's chord progression directly above each lyric line (for example: G – Em – C – D). This would allow musicians to instantly play along on piano, guitar, ukulele, accordion, violin, or other instruments without having to search third-party websites.

Taking it a step further, Spotify could use AI to generate optional instrument parts, such as:

Chord progressions synchronized with the lyrics.

Guitar chord diagrams and capo suggestions.

Piano chord voicings.

Bass lines.

Lead guitar tabs or notation for well-known songs.

Different difficulty levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced).

This would transform Spotify from a music streaming app into a platform for learning, practicing, and collaborating. Friends could gather around a piano or guitar during a party or jam session.
