Click album art to go to song in playlist

It used to be functionality that if you clicked on album art (in bottom left corner or in Now Playing window) it would open the current playlist showing the currently playing track. This no longer works.

Please bring it back as it is really time-consuming trying to find the track in the playlist (in large playlists). I used to use this function for almost every track that played. It's really annoying it no longer works.

Current functionality of clicking on album art in Now Playing takes you to the album - this is pointless as you can do that by clicking on the song title in Now Playing to do that.

SOLUTION: You can jump to the song in the current playlist - click on the Playlist Name at the top of the Now Playing pane (i.e. above the album art)

EinfachToll, thanks, I had not noticed that. Then it's not that bad, I guess 🙂

This is how the app used to work, but somewhere they broke/changed it. It annoys me in the app how there's no way to easily get BACK to my playlist once I'm on the Now Playing page.

Are you kidding me?! So now they force you to have that useless "Now Playing View" open at all times, so that I can no longer see the Friend Activity view AND I can no longer easily jump to the playlist/album I'm playing from by clicking the lower left corner album cover. Ok, there is a (cumbersome) workaround. The original method was probably too convenient for us, so Spotify felt compelled to ruin that (like so many other things -> heart icon!). Spotify is really doing everything they can to annoy customers. Worst software company ever! It is about time the big tech sites start publishing articles to denounce everything that is blatantly wrong with the Spotify software experience.

@Axonn, on mobile you can go to the currently playing song in a playlist, simply by going to the Now Playing screen and tapping the top bar that says something like "PLAYING FROM PLAYLIST". Tap it and there you go. This has worked fine for a long time now, but don't say this too loud or they'll remove that convenience too.

@P3tro, you say you like the idea of going to the track in the album rather than it's position in the playlist from which the track is being played. Now that would be a bad idea. There is already a way to jump to the album. No need to sacrify the Album Art click for that. But whatever, Spotify already sacrified that for that useless Now Playing View. If only there was usefull information in there, but it's not. So P3tro, leave the bad ideas to Spotify, they're good at it.
And by the way, no idea what you mean with "the idea of following the track based on its position in my playlist".

Jump-to-playlist 'Now Playing' album art feature, I've been using it daily for years.

On PC/Desktop, you can already right-click and pick 'go to album' option from a menu, but there's no 'go to playlist' alternative.

It's not necessarily a good or a bad change to get sent to album on clicking its cover art (regardless where you're playing it from), but it would be nice to have a 'go to playlist' option somewhere. In a large playlist, I'd like to jump to a spot where I left and sometimes skip upcoming tracks if I don't feel like listening to them.

The solution suggestion by OP seems like a good compromise.

Also, I can't tell whether this is a bug or intended feature at this point....

Overpaid designers are at it again. They make the desktop app unbearable for everyone while receiving overpaid salaries.

BEFORE THE MOST RECENT UPDATE, WHEN YOU CLICKED ON A SONG IN THE BOTTOM LEFT ON PC CLIENT, IT WOULD OPEN THE CURRENT PLAYLIST OR ALBUM AND SCROLL TO THE POINT IN THE PLAYLIST THAT THE SONG IS LOCATED. NOW IT ONLY OPENS THE RIGHT-SIDE SONG INFO PANE. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FEATURE. I HATE SPOTIFY A-B TESTING RANDOMLY REMOVING EVERY FEATURE THAT I GET USED TO AND USE REGULARLY.

Also, I'm aware that you can click the playlist title in 'now playing view' (after calming down for a moment..) -- but I still greatly prefer when clicking on the song would directly open the playlist rather than the now playing view. the now playing view is still accessible in the bottom right, why do we need two buttons that lead to it?

to be clear, it was particularly helpful for when you listen to long playlists or albums without using shuffle, so that you could see where you were at in the playlist or album. For example, I'm in a big collaborative playlist and I wanted to see who added the song I'm listening to and if there was going to be more songs from them after this one (people added songs in chunks) -- clicking the song, in order to return to the spot that I'm at in the playlist, would immediately let me see all of this info in one tap. The alternative is just opening the playlist and scrolling (potentially for a long time, depending on how long) and hoping that I can tell which song is green when I'm going at a pace appropriately quickly to actually scroll the length of the playlist.

I hate spotify's seemingly random & arbitrary removal of features. for being probably my favorite application, it's also easily the one which I hate using the most over the long-term.

The new option is ridiculous. Spotify gets worse with every update (at least the UX on desktop).

They could at the minimum make it an option in the preferences.
