DJ interactivity - Thumbs up/thumbs down to influence the AIs algorithm

I would love to see more interactivity with the DJ.

For about 2 weeks straight the DJ was just playing different types of metal for me and while I enjoy that I listen all day at work and I need a change of pace throughout the days

If I "like" a song it gets added to my liked song list and sometime I would just like to provide feedback directly to the AI like a "Great song choice, play some more like this" instead of pressing the AI button and making it 'Switch it up a bit' by playing some more metal
to implement this a simple thumbs up/ thumbs down icon that only influences the AIs algorithm would be all you need.  It could even be built upon more buy a double thumbs up/down to indicate I really like/dislike this band or song but I like the genre.  The reason for this is sometimes I get a song that I am really enjoying a lot and the very next song just doesn't hit for me.  I don't want to hit the button and bring the AI in to change it up because im liking the genre but not that song.  while you could argue that skipping the song works that way maybe im skipping a song that I dont like at that time but its still a good song, I still want to hear it just not now.

having a little more influence over the AI would be greatly appreciated.  I typically listen to it all day, but when all it offers me is metal, and im wanting some rock, pop, EDM, dance, 80 rock, or indie I have to go out and search playlists for music.

I feel implementing a simple thumbs up/down would be much more beneficial to the User, the AI, and Spotify as a whole to help the AI learn individual preferences, and more capable of getting you the right song at the right time

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now and we hope it continues being supported by more and more users.
Thanks again for your suggestion. We really appreciate it 🙂

Why oh why does the DJ insist on playing certain genres of music entirely based on my geography? I'm on the African continent, so every single time I use the DJ, it tips the Amapiano dumpster over on me, insisting that it's music "for the whole family." Fine, but only applicable if the family can actually speak Zulu. I skip it every single time, but there is seemingly no way to convince the DJ that it isn't my absolute favorite genre.

It would be convenient you could select key words or genres in the Ai DJ feature; (similarly what is implemented on the liked songs page) for when you need new suggestions or when you just want a certain genre.

To better the algorithm, a like and dislike feature could be very useful. it could help DJ know your music taste on a more specific level rather than looking at stuff like how long you listened before skipping for example.

An issue I have with the DJ is that I live in Sweden but am not Swedish, but the DJ consistently plays me Swedish language songs. I have never liked a single Swedish language song, I instantly skip them all. So some way to block non English songs would be very useful.

I totally agree, it seems to me that spotify already had the algorithms in place for this sort of thing

Being Mexican and in Mexico I get suggestions for the most popular "Mexican folk" music hits, I hate this genre with a passion, thus I rush to hit the dj button like mad just to see if it learns this...

Please please pleeeease implement this

Quantodeluz

Like ("I like the vibe, keep it up!")

Dislike ("Maybe something sligthly diffrent?")
Block ("dont. play. that. AGAIN. EVER.")

And keyword / genre search

That's all i need. Please.

It happens to me very often. Someone plays songs in the car because they want to listen to them, and then the DJ recommends me those kinds of songs that I don't really like.

I'd love that (I already voted it as a "yes"). There's some music genres that I don't feel comfortable to, or maybe I could like one particular song but not the whole genre so this is a good idea to no repeat songs in the DJ's mix. It would be great that DJ had more phrases to say to no repeat the same pattern over and over every time (I don't know, like "the weather is nice for a soft mix today", "the summer is just starting and the next mix will help you make the most of it", "rain is not a problem when you have a cozy mix coming up next", or something like that), to make it sounds more like a live personal DJ. Other great option would be syncing to smartwatches that sense stress state (via Samsung's Health or Health Sync on AndroidOS and WearOS) to play a mix that helps you to relax unconsciously, but that would be to advanced for now ¿right?

Everyone got the notification that we're now being charged an exhorbited $13 a month now to work on "making things better" and "implementing new features". Well how about fixing the DJ to start. Why is it that spotify, the music giant that had one of the best Shuffling Algorithm, is completely fumbling a great idea. Long story short DJ is replaying the same damn songs over and over. i have several preference playlists exceeding 10k songs altogether and it's constantly replaying the same grouped songs. Often you can even tell its the same batch of 5 songs that periodically get chosen. Use the MILLIONS of dollars your're gouging from us and put it to good use.

I love the DJ function on Spotify. I want to suggest that when a song comes on I do not like or want to hear in the future, there should be a feature to select the song not to be used by DJ in the future. This function would also allow DJ to suggest new songs I may have never listened to before.

Thanks Spotify Team. I use your app every day.
