[Desktop][Search] Return Search bar to main screen

The Search bar was recently shifted to the scroll menu on the side (Windows Desktop Client), however, I cannot see why.

The Search bar is such an essential feature, which needs quick access at any time. With its new position, I have to click the scroll menu on the side first in order to scroll right to the top, just to click the extra Search option.

When I for example create a new playlist and browse through the artists´ pages to find the fitting songs, I can not simply drag and drop the song without scrolling down the long list until i reach my playlist. Then I have to scroll all the way up again to enter a new artist into the Search bar.
This just seems unnecessarily complicated and counterintuitive.

It´s not that the space was filled with something more important anyway (not that there are much more important things than the essential Search feature)... it´s just a blank space now.

I would really appreciate it if you moved the Search bar back to its previous position at the top of the main section, no matter whether it was a band page, playlist or anything else. It could still unfold into its extra screen (like it does now) when clicking it but the position has to be easily accessible at any time.

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the previous Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

This is a problem for mac as well! Please fix both!

Any update on this? It's ridiculous that one of the main functionalites of the app is moved to it's own page, not to mention now takes long to load as well. Please move it back to every screen. So frustrating

Brian

When you thought it's not possible to ruin the UX any more you hide the most central function for any content based service… behind a BUTTON?!

iwstrader

Yes. This change affects me pretty much every time I use the Desktop app. Please revert this change!

Essential function! This must be brought back! To not be able to search while remaining within the current screen you're in, and having to go to a separate page/tab is completely cumbersome.

That's odd. My search bar is right on top of the Home tab, it's never been elsewhere for months I believe.

Maybe you haven’t updated your app but on the desktop app for Mac, the search bar is gone. You now have click on the “search” in the sidebar, which takes you away from your current screen and to a dedicated search screen.

Brian

Ok, so the search field is hidden behind a button again…

Should we create a "new" "idea" for this or just try and activate this thread/idea?

My app updated and now the search bar is only accessible if you click on the "Search" icon in the lefthand sidebar. This requires an extra click every time I want to search for anything. Please put the search bar back onto every page. It doesn't clutter up the UX and it's the second most important feature in the app (after the play/pause buttons). You wouldn't make me go on another page to access play/pause, would you?

Hey, I see this issue being brought up with previous updated but not with this one.

The desktop app recently updated to 1.1.55.498.gf9a83c60-a and along with many visual changes I see that the search bar from the top is gone in most of the pages.

Can you make back the search bar always visible at the top of the desktop app? This is the main way to look for music to listen and it's simply crucial to have it available on home screen or artist or album page.
