[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

Hey everyone,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Take care.

So this is not a priority for you? That's a basic option that every serious audio/music application has. Come on, it's not that difficult to add this.

I recently took up Spotify's 10$ for 3 months offer just to give it a spin - I'm really enjoying it except that this feature is missing on the Windows application. Please reconsider your "Not right now" status, as this feature would be highly appreciated by all your users.

I'm on a trial, and definitely keeping my eye on this as one of my decision factors.

This reminds me of the request to bring back the "close to tray" feature. As before Spotify is totally ignoring it's users and refuses to implement even the basic features concurrents have for ages (I'm sure it was in Winamp 1.0)

Cancelled sub until this is resolved. Ive subbed on and off for a few years now. Just can't see myself supporting a company who took the effort to post and basically say we don't care about your concerns, our ui is more important. The ui had only been getting worse. Few improvements here and there to specific things but overall new has not always been better.

If they want more people to become subscribers, this is a necessary feature.

Unsubscribed my Premium account and switched to Tidal. Goodbye Spotify.

Doesn't solve the Spotify default device, but in Windows you can select a different default audio output device.

That way you can listen to Spotify using your desired playback device while watching a movie or playing a game using a different output device.

I use JRiver Media Center which includes a WDM driver, a sort of emulated soundcard so to speak. So what you do is make JRiver your default playback device. Advantages include one of the best software DSP's and audio resampler. JRiver can also direct the audio path to a different audio playback device. The options are endless and brilliant!

What Spotify should do is, is investigate this feature of JRiver and implement a WDM or similar driver. Would be cheaper and give users more freedom than using only only one output device. It also enables WASAPI and ASIO output.

Or you can just switch to Tidal and you don't have to do weird workarounds (c;

Just another post complaining about lack of necassary functionality!
