[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

Pleas add a solution into spotify to choose between different sound sources inside the app, tank you!

Ended up just buying Equalify Pro for Spotify since Spotify themself seems to not care about this at all.
Works like a charm and I higly recommend it.

I don't care anymore.

I did switch from windows to linux and I can switch output device on linux for any application.

I don't care anymore about Spotify and Microsoft pissing on users needs on Windows.

Spotify keep up the good work maintainging flawless Desktop app for linux.

Well since i still really use and like the soptiamp solution almost
everyday, I'm okay, i would even replace the main application if there was
a full winamp implementation. Maybe we can kickstart spotiamp somehow to
realize a winamp revival via spotify. Somehow i really would love to pay
for a mirage of these two fine and decent music nerd tools.

The source is open!

I think you've actually struck a bit of a nerve there. Ther is an open source project, inspired by a media player written 20 years ago, that is an improvement over the current spotify application. If that isn't just sad....

This sound out problem only applies to Spotify installed on PC's & Macs, right. I mean if you have it on a tablet or smart phone then there are options like bluetooth, Chromecast & Airplay to whatever speaker system you choose.

Can't confirm mac but the issue on windows pc only affects users who use
multiple hardware sound devices.

Spotify uses the default audio device given by system. (right click on the
little speaker to open the audio device panel)

I use a asus headphone amplifier for pre amping my headset sound plus a
Logitech usb audio device for sending my pc sound to my main soundsystem.

If i have friends chilling in front of my xbox one and i want to have the
sound of my game on my headset but the Spotify music on the soundsystem,
its not possible without a third party solution like spotiamp.

I first open spotiamp so it acts like a external Spotify player and then i
start normal Spotify client to have the comfort of my library (a bit raw
interface on the spotiamp, thats why i would love to have a full winamp
implementation)

In spotiamp i now can change audio devices from headset to speaker like i
need it.

So basically we have two issues here:

1. No native option inside windows given to re-route sound from
software/applications

2.no native option inside spotify client to re-route sound from the
Spotifyplayer

It would be unfair to just blame the spotify devs!

I don't know if it is unfair. The application just requests the default
sound device from the system, and the system returns it. What is it
supposed to do? It is the job of the application to select the target
device in my opinion.

@jacking that's not exactly true

On windows you can also select output device in sound control the same on Mac, Phones, Tables ...
But the problem is that every program will play on that one output, but can't specify spotify to play on different.

A lot of apps supports selecting output, VLC, Winamp [*] even WMP, ... but not spotify.
