[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

Hey everyone,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Take care.

Yes, that's true. On my Mac I can alternate between the default system
output or headphones (which I can connect to active speakers), but it would
a bonus to be able to select my USB Meridian Explorer 2 which I prefer for
other music players. Tidal does this excellently.

I would prefer a solution that covers all cases of internally re-routing my
windows pc audio. This is not an issue i only have particularly just with
Spotify, audio options inside windows limit my basic needs since ever...

Like mentioned above from other linux users, freely choose from any audio
playback Device, thats a standard in most Linux distroa, why not in
windows?

With Windows, the app (Spotify) has to allow it's outputs to be seen and selected by audio hardware.

Once Spotify allows it's outputs to be seen in Windows, then it can be directed to other hardware outputs.  I have a multiple output audio interface.  The problem is, Spotify doesn't allow the audio hardware to be seen, in it's list of inputs.

I have multiple software (that has been available for 15 + years) that can direct their outputs to different hardware inputs.  This isn't something new.

This is a MUST HAVE feature in all the music players... I don't know why they not implement it yet.

Judging from the comments, many people seem to want this. It has been requested for several years now.

I want music to be fed to my good standalone speakers, while I keep using my small laptop speakers for system sound, youtube video sound, etc. This is probably a common setup.

Spotify, could you please explain why you do not plan to do this? It should be technically rather simple.

Sorry, spotify, but you are just fools not implementing such an essential (and easy to implement) feature.

You are making so much money - do something with it - for us!

this is so dumb.

5 years passed... and still no change.

This must be an easy fix. Please could you are it to make S option even better.

I hope it will be implemented soon, this is such a great feature to have! I don't understand why it's been almost 5 years since you got this idea, and you even said it was a "top idea". Not ranting, but I would really like to see this implemented soon, because I love spotify and use it almost every day!
