[Developer] Add "Moods" on the DJ AI

where the DJ can ask you on any specific genre or mood you want to here on that moment. the DJ is fine and all but if want to rely on the AI to manage my music it should first need to know what I want to hear on that moment not just get random song on what I always play. It will prompt the user if your feeling adventurous and give more new song that acutes to this song that his/her listening to but also or if you feel a bit mellow dramatic where you want to hear sad songs or when you want to go on focus mode and play lofi songs. For the AI just assuming the song won't really cut it as the users have a mood on that moment. The AI should help the mood of the user and caters to what he wants to hear. just giving random music that the user listen to can give a disconnect.

I think you should have an option to type in a message to Spotify DJ with the kind of music you feel like listening too.

DJ plays the same vibe for 4-5 songs, and though you have the option to change it earlier, there's no option to keep it going for a few more songs. Perhaps another button, or 2 options when you press the DJ button

I tried the DJ option in Spotify. Didn't really care for the guy talking at all at first.

But then...he grew on me.

When I played MIX UP options for music before, it was bland.

Now...I'm getting personalized songs...and a dude who talks to me with funny sayings.

Like, "I'm personally going to out-chill myself with this next song..."

That's hilarious.

I love Chill music...and love the personalized approach.

I listen to it non stop now during work.

I would love, however, to pick my mood. It would be cool if I could select my mood, or if the dude asked me.

"Hey Peter...what are you feeling right now?" Other than that...love it. Hope it stays.

Spotify should introduce an AI feature that lets you describe exactly the vibe you're looking for—like saying, "I want sad but aggressive music" (e.g., "Happier Than Ever" by Billie Eilish)—and it creates a perfectly tailored playlist for that mood.

Right now, their way of playing music is frustrating. If you play one song, it just continues with some predictable and repetitive recommendations. I already know by heart what will come after a specific song—it’s always the same.

For example, if I want to listen to One Direction, I’ll play one of their songs, but then it randomly throws in Katy Perry or something else completely unrelated. It would be great if Spotify’s AI could better understand and match the exact mood or theme you want without derailing the vibe.

My Question or Issue

I'm wondering if there's a way to communicate more directly with the DJ, like explain a mood that you're in and have it play more stuff similar to that. I know you can click the DJ button to switch the vibe up, but I'm looking more for a setting I can turn on and not have to have the intermittent song outside of that emotion.

Ideally it would be similar to how your liked songs gives you the option to choose a mood like, angry, metal, pop, rock, type of setting.

When using the AI DJ as of right now it'll play random songs you've listen to through out the time you've listened to Spotify well I think it would be beneficial to be able to have the DJ to categorize what it plays to what the user wants and it could be through holding down the button that shows up when the DJ is being used for example when holding down the button it shows a little menu that gives genres, artists or artist that are similar to that artist etc. and you can tap on one of the options and the DJ will go with the specifications that was given in the menu

Hi Spotify team, I have a couple of feature suggestions that I think would improve the DJ and mix experience on Spotify: Mood-Based DJ Suggestions: It would be amazing if, in the DJ X feature, the user could describe their current mood or situation, and the DJ would tailor music accordingly. For example, the DJ might say something like: “Let’s make a playlist to make you smile.” I recently got a mix like that, and I loved it — it felt personal. Expanding on this kind of interaction could really enhance the user experience. Mix Customization by Band + Mood: I wish there were a feature that lets users select specific bands or artists they love — for instance, Slipknot and System of a Down — and then choose a vibe or mood, like “chill,” “focus,” or “energize.” Spotify would then generate a mix that balances both the artists and the desired feeling. This could help users explore new sides of their favorite bands or discover similar music in the exact mood they’re looking for. I think both ideas could bring an even more personal and emotional experience to Spotify. Thanks for listening! 🙂

🎧MoodMatch – Music that gets how you feel

Ever wanted Spotify to just get your vibe without you having to search for the right playlist or artist? That’s where MoodMatch comes in.

It’s an AI-powered feature where you simply type (or say) how you’re feeling — like “late night study”, “heartbreak drive”, or “party night energy” — and Spotify instantly creates a queue that matches your mood and your personal taste in music.

How it’s different from the current queue

Right now, when you play a song, Spotify builds a queue based on song similarity — usually by artist, genre, or tempo.

MoodMatch flips that:

  • It starts with your mood, not a specific song.

  • It understands your emotional context.

  • And then it builds a queue that feels personal, not just “songs that sound like this one.”

Why MoodMatch is a guaranteed success

It’s not just matching sounds — it uses AI (like NLP and large language models) to:

  • Understand natural, everyday language (even slang like “I want revenge music” or “sad girl mode”)

  • Choose songs based on lyrics, energy, and emotional tone

  • Adapt the queue as you listen — skipping sad songs makes it go upbeat, liking slower ones makes it chill out

Why it matters

MoodMatch makes Spotify feel more human. Instead of scrolling through playlists or hitting “next” a bunch of times, you just say what you’re feeling — and your music meets you there.

Features

  • Mood-based input (text or voice)

  • Real-time, adaptive music queue

  • Smart re-ranking based on your listening

  • Personalized to your emotional state and your music taste

Benefits

  • It feels personal, emotional, and intuitive

  • Saves time when you just want music that fits your moment

  • Keeps users more engaged and satisfied

  • Adds a fun, modern AI touch to the Spotify experience
