Feature Request: Floating “Subtitle-Style” Lyrics Window (Picture-in-Picture for Desktop)

Hi Spotify team,

I’d love to suggest a new lyrics feature for the desktop app that would be especially helpful for people who listen to music while working.

The idea:

A floating, resizable lyrics window that works like picture-in-picture subtitles on top of other applications.

How it would work:

Lyrics would be displayed in a small overlay window that stays always on top of other programs.

The window could be:

Freely moved anywhere on the screen

Resized to the user’s preference

Adjusted for text size and maybe background opacity

The lyrics would stay synced in real time with the song (like the current lyrics feature).

Importantly, this is not karaoke mode — the original vocals should remain untouched. This is purely a visual lyrics overlay.

Why this would be useful:

Many of us listen to music while working, studying, or using creative software in full screen. Currently, to read lyrics we have to switch back to Spotify or use a phone, which breaks focus.

This feature would:

Let users follow lyrics without leaving their workflow

Be especially helpful for language learners

Improve accessibility for users who rely on reading lyrics to understand songs

It would basically function like subtitles for music, but in a flexible, desktop-friendly format.

I've had the same idea

Spam the likes and hope that someday they are goin to add it

Also somebody made a great comment on mine that explains in great detail how it should work, I hope they see it done someday.
