Hello Spotify Team,
My name is Nuria, and I would like to share a feature proposal that could enhance how users discover and choose music on Spotify.
### 💡 Main idea
The concept is to integrate a conversational assistant within the app that allows users to create playlists instantly using natural language.
Instead of manually searching or selecting predefined categories, users could describe what they feel like listening to in their own words. For example:
“I’d like something a bit melancholic but still motivating, maybe some pop or pop rock, and including artists I already listen to.”
---
### ⚙️ How it would work
The system would:
- Generate a playlist in real time based on the user’s description
- Use the user’s listening history to include familiar songs
- Add new recommendations adapted to the context
- Ask a few short, optional follow-up questions (energy level, language, activity, etc.) if needed
---
### 🔄 Key aspect: dynamic playlists
Beyond simple playlist creation, this feature would allow dynamic variation of energy within a single playlist, adapting to real-life situations.
For example, during activities like studying, cleaning, or painting, users might want a flow that alternates between:
- more relaxed moments
- more energetic or motivating sections
- smooth transitions between styles (pop, pop rock, reggaeton, etc.)
---
### 🤝 More natural interaction
The experience could be enhanced by representing the assistant as a simple character or avatar within the app, making the interaction more intuitive and engaging.
As a conceptual idea, names like “Meló” (from melody) or “Viby” (from vibe) could fit this approach, although the final naming would depend on Spotify’s product direction.
---
### 🎯 Goal
The goal is to reduce the time users spend deciding what to listen to and provide a more intuitive, flexible, and emotionally adapted music experience.
---
Thank you for your time and for the work you do.
Best regards,
Nuria
