Inherited Playlists (Nested Playlists)

Idea:

Let playlists "inherit" content from other playlists

I would love to see a feature where one playlist can act as a container for others. I call this "Inherited Playlists."

How it works:

You create a main playlist and select other existing playlists as its "sources."

It automatically aggregates all songs from those sources.

Includes a "Remove Duplicates" toggle.

Automatic Sync: If I add/remove a song in a source playlist, the main one updates instantly.

Why we need this:

It’s a nightmare to manually remove the same song from 5 different playlists. This feature would allow users to organize music by specific tags/occasions while still having an easy way to listen to everything in one place without the manual labor of "copy-pasting" tracks.

As a Chinese speaker, I have used AI to help translate my thoughts into English. I hope the core idea comes across clearly!

I was about to request a similar feature so I will post it here as a comment instead:

I have my playlists sorted by genre but it would be nice to be able to play a mix of multiple playlist. I understand that I could just copy/paste to a new playlist, but the benefit of this new playlist type is that it would automatically update to include any new songs added to the "root" playlist.

A way of achieving this would be to create a new type of playlist that links to your existing playlist. "Blended" would have been a good name for this playlist type but you already have that to link with friends, so it could be called a "Mixed", "Combined", "Mingled", "Merged", or "Fused" playlist.

Or instead of a playlist type, this could be a "listening mode" where the user is temporarily able to select multiple playlist and shuffle through them.
