Music comments

Now I hate to use another music platform as an example, but Soundcloud has a feature that allows you to see comments on a song. Why do want this on Spotify? In my personal opinion I think that comments are something that is just nice to see because I like seeing what other peoples thoughts are on a song. Allowing comments would allow a user to see the general public reaction to a song. Example: I like this song, I'm debating whether or not to show it to someone. I check the comments to see what other people have to say about it, if the comments are positive I'm more to likely to listen to the song and share it to others

Cons: Negative feedback and bad spam on certain artists.  fix: block spam, filter certain words, have a message before a user comments saying that you will be banned from commenting if the comment is harsh towards the artist

You could even make a feature that allows the user to turn it on and off if you want to see the comments or not. Like a hide comments button

As a songwriter, I like to save songs that give me inspiration but it can be hard to remember what exactly about that song I liked. It would be cool to be able to add little comments about a song on personal playlists (ex. I like the delayed beat drop in the chorus, ethereal vibes of versus, etc.). This could also just be used to attach memories to songs - kind of like musical journaling as well (ex. I remember first hearing this song on a bus in Iceland). There are a lot of interesting uses something like this could inspire. Maybe there could be an option for making your comments public as well as a private option (similar to private and public playlists).

I think that it would be really cool to have a place where you can see what other users think of a song that you're listening to. This could be a great Premium feature, maybe instead of non-Premium users not being able to skip songs.

I would consider leaving spotify and it would really dampen my engagement with the app  if people were allowed to leave comments under songs or messages under playlists.

Its very likely people won't discuss music. If we are going by soundcloud as an expample, most peoples comments will be toxic, too personal or mindless and will ruin the music.

Having options to leave messages just opens up the door to bullying and mistreatment.

I like that spotify is just about listening, sharing and curating playlists and finding music.

Also i don't want to know and not interested what other people think of a song, peoples don't need to impose their thoughts onto everyone else, there are loads of places to do that

If you want to write a note down aboout a song, why don't you use notes on your phone or get a pen and paper out

Don't know about songs, but this should absolutely be done on Podcasts... Timestamps threaded-convos could be limited to the 'casters or could be open to be set by the listeners. Different options could be set by the 'Casters... Could have it set to where you have to be following for a week to comment, so theres less kneejerk reactions from random users. Theres several kinds of options and settings that could be added.

**bleep**, you could even do it for songs too... but that shouldn't be the default setting for songs.

  • This is a vital features to have the possibility to share with others and contribute to encourage the artist and the diversity
  • just like in podcasts , share feelings or feedback, react to each other’s comments, ask questions

It will be nice if fans can leave comments on songs or albums. It creats the  feeling of community and gives artists direct feedback. Other platforms like SoundCloud already offer this, and it really helps both fans and creators connect.

I agree. Need a comments section.

Just like Spotify allowed users to leave comments on podcasts, I think it's time to expand this interactive feature to songs as well.

This would give listeners the chance to share their thoughts, emotions, and memories attached to a particular song — creating a more engaging and social listening experience.

Benefits:

Strengthen the connection between fans and songs.

Create a space for real-time reactions, lyrics appreciation, and music discussions.

Encourage music discovery through community feedback.

If it works perfectly with podcasts, why not bring it to the songs we all love?
