Option to turn OFF "Made for You" customized playlists

I use Spotify playlists throughout my workday to keep the office humming and productivity up. But, since the launch of "Made for You" playlists, all of my playlists have pretty much warped into monoliths of one another. I used to have multiple Spotify playlists within a genre that were unique and would break up the monotony of the workday. But now, multiple playlists are playing the same songs, so they all sound the same and it's hard to find something to listen to that we haven't heard dozens of times. It really defeats the purpose of having for a Spotify account, which I expect to deliver me unique music with niche distinction. Please give us the option to turn OFF the "Made for You" playlists so that we can enjoy curated song lists that deliver new and varied music, instead of derivate and predictable algorithmically-generated playlists.

Yes! I feel absolutely the same way. I want to discover new music, not just listen to the same songs on repeat!

I have exactly the same problem, Reddit and other forums are RIDDLED with thousands of people begging that this feature at least could be toggled on or off.

Agree. Playlists curated by Spotify felt like they were made with topics and/or genres in mind, helping a lot on discovering new music. Also, with the implementation of "Mix" playlists, the "made for you" feature on curated playlists became quite redundant IMO.

I 100% agree! I find myself actively avoiding Spotify playlists because of how they've all (within similar genres) have become a collection of the same songs constantly. There's no discovery within these playlists anymore and that is the original reason I started to use Spotify. Discovery. It's one of the main reasons that I still use Spotify today.

As a side note, DJ has, more or less, the same issue too.

100% agree!

very often, I will come across a song that I like in the moment and select “go to radio” off that song to 1). Hear others like it that align with my mood in that moment and 2). To explore and find new songs similar to one I like.

I’ve noticed recently when I use this go to radio feature it takes me to that radio and has the “made for…” classification. The playlist then contains a much higher percentage of songs I have already liked even if they are not related to the song/album that the radio is based on. This is incredible annoying because it negatively affects BOTH goals that I outlined as 1). And 2). Please make this optional so new music and artists can be more easily found!

Hi Spotify Team,

I am writing to request an option to toggle off or customize the "Made for You" feature. While I appreciate the effort to personalize my listening experience, I often find myself listening to the same songs repeatedly, which can be quite frustrating.

For example, when I use the Artist Radio feature, such as Danity Kane Radio, I expect to hear more songs from Danity Kane and similar artists. However, the "Made for You" algorithm tends to recycle the same tracks based on my past listening habits, leading to a less diverse and predictable playlist.

Here are a few suggestions that I believe would improve the user experience:

  1. Toggle Option: Allow users to turn off the "Made for You" feature entirely or for specific radios/playlists.
  2. Customization: Provide options to customize the degree of personalization, such as sliders to adjust how much the recommendations should rely on past listening habits.
  3. Broader Variety: Ensure that artist and song radios include a wider variety of tracks, focusing more on the chosen artist or genre rather than heavily relying on the user's previous plays.

I've discussed this issue with several friends and family members who also share this sentiment. Some are even considering switching to other music streaming services due to the repetitive nature of the recommendations.

I hope you consider this feedback and provide more control over how we experience our music. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm considering leaving because of this. It's the worst "feature" ever

I have the same issues with Made For...

I want to discover new music not listen to the same recent tunes. Fast Car seems to be in all my Made For playlists now no matter what the subject or radio station. I played Oasis radio the other day and I think only five Oasis songs came on and the rest were rinse and repeat songs from recent history. So I thought lets go a whole different genre.

Folk mix - apart from the first song I wouldn't clasify any of the songs on this list as folk but a lot are from recent history and most have 'Likes' so not exactly discovering new music is it Spotify.

Please allow [Made For] to be optionally turned OFF

Came to spotify community for the first time purely to attempt to get this feature toggle-able or removed. I was trying to understand why I feel like I don't know any new music, and it's because of my Made For Me echo chamber. Greatly dislike this feature. But I guess I've been with spotify since 2011, so maybe it's time for me to try a different music streaming service anyway.
