Option to turn OFF "Made for You" customized playlists

I use Spotify playlists throughout my workday to keep the office humming and productivity up. But, since the launch of "Made for You" playlists, all of my playlists have pretty much warped into monoliths of one another. I used to have multiple Spotify playlists within a genre that were unique and would break up the monotony of the workday. But now, multiple playlists are playing the same songs, so they all sound the same and it's hard to find something to listen to that we haven't heard dozens of times. It really defeats the purpose of having for a Spotify account, which I expect to deliver me unique music with niche distinction. Please give us the option to turn OFF the "Made for You" playlists so that we can enjoy curated song lists that deliver new and varied music, instead of derivate and predictable algorithmically-generated playlists.

Agreed, I feel it likes to play what I've heard too much.

I used to love Playlists and Radios for discovering new music. Now because they're "made for" me, every radio has the same songs that I regularly listen to, many of which sound nothing like the song that the Radio is for. Please bring back the way it used to work!

Echoing the same thing everyone has said already. It’s very clear people want this. I have counted the amount of ideas on this exact topic of turning off the “made for you” personalization when making radios on Spotify and there are 6 live ideas saying the same thing all totaling 184 votes when put together. Spotify, please pay attention to what your users are asking for.

I want to add my two cents on this issue. The "made for you" feature is truly truly TERRIBLE. It makes the listening experience private and lonely and repetitive. I don't want to be in a dystopian little listening echo-chamber where my own eccentric and accidental (and AI-Fueled!) listening gets slopped back at me. Every playlist sounds the same, the same few songs keep on coming up regardless of what I do. And even if this is useful sometimes, for some purposes, the most annoying thing is how hard it is to escape. I find it almost impossible to find playlists that are NOT made for me. Whether I browse genres or moods or artists, anything I click on was "made for me". Thinking of trying other streaming services, the fact that "made for you" is so inescapable is what is killing me.

I agree with the original poster, plus all or the similar posts on this forum, Reddit, etc. with no meaningful response from Spotify. I am not happy.

I don’t want playlists that have music I already listen to when I search a genre. I want to find new music but all the suggested songs are ones I already listen to because it’s suggesting them based off my listening history. I would rather have it excluded songs I listen to rather than add them.

All radios/mixes/etc. are now "made for you," and it's apparent from comments on this site that this is an unpopular design. The word "claustrophobic" is used a lot, and I agree.

But there's an easy solution: just give us the option to choose between the personalized or default version of it. We all know default versions exist—you can see them if you search a radio or mix without being signed in.

All we want is to see what Spotify would put in (for example) "John Mayer Radio" or "Harmonies Mix" if the algorithm knew nothing about our preferences. If I listen to either of these, it's because I'm looking for music that's similar to John Mayer or uses harmonies, not just more of the same old songs that I've had on repeat. Searching for a particular vibe would be so much easier if the algorithm weren't trying to guess what we want.

It seems like a fairly simple solution to implement that would keep everyone happy, right?

Some of my favorite playlists have now been turned into “made for you” only. My experience is that I don’t like the results as much as the old curated playlist. As others have mentioned, the “made for you” playlist songs have less diversity which is not something that aligns to my music listening goals.

This feature may be a positive for many customers, but for me it has become disappointing as my options for non “made for you” playlists are steadily diminishing.

Please allow me to turn this feature off.

Yep, made for you should be able to be removed... I loved getting new artists... now it's just stale same stuff...

The curated playlists were great for finding new music...

This has 100% been a downgrade in my book

I used to use song radio to find new cool songs in the same genre as the song im making a radio of.

I dont want it to give me songs i allready have/ are listening to.

Please make an option to disable the (For you) aspect of song radios and spotify playlists.
