[Playlists] Solution to false/abusive reporting

Whenever someone reports a playlist - the title and cover art are removed immediately. This is often abused to hurt record labels and playlist curators. After contacting support - the account of someone who abused this system gets taken down. This person then creates another email and free Spotify account and repeats the process.

There is a simple solution to the problem - enable reporting feature only after 10 hours of music/podcasts were streamed using the account. It won't change the experience for a normal user but makes copyright abuse impractical. It's cheap and easy to implement and would stop 95% of false claims.

Thank you for your consideration.

Spotify - can you please at least install a captcha on the submission page to stop the automated reporting??

Yesterday and today morning.
When I read people complaining about 3 or 4 reports, it makes me quite "jealous". I use to have more than 50 a day. My record is about 160 in one single day.

I use the theLedge1 advise in my playlist, even I don't receive report I loose followers, but in a slower rate.
Normaly, without any report all my playlists combined have about 1000/1500 new followers each month.

Spotify is aware but don't give a .... about us. Totally disappointed.

You would think at a minimum they would want to fix this so it doesn't fill up their support email box with spam.

So how does this normally end?

1.  Spotify actually reviews the case and stops the bot and all ends well?

2.  Spotify reviews the case, the title and image are allowed, then a new bot is formed and takes it down again repeating the cycle of doom?

3.  The bot eventually changes it's focus on other playlist after a certain amount of time which frees up your playlist?  ( until the next time it's targeted)

4.  The bot is forever, Spotify never checks it, and you give up in frustration?

TheLedge1 As far as I know Spotify very rarely reviews the case... about a year ago they did review one of my reports and said it was an accident and that I could re-enter my data but then as soon as I did I got reported again. Usually the bots target me for a week or two and then change focus but then they come back... like others here I've had a blank playlist being reported every 15 minutes in the past... that went on for about 2 weeks filling up my emails (that was really frustrating and no one from Spotify replied to me). That's the worst experience I've had... at the moment the bots get me a few times a week and I'm able to get my descriptions back up pretty quick without losing too much momentum...

I managed to set up the python script @Top50Clean shared earlier in this thread. Helps to save time and attention

Top50Clean

Glad to hear you got that script working, SjorsWeijermar1. Leave it running and you’ll notice how the person reporting your playlist will eventually just give up. You should be able to maintain your search rankings as well, since your playlist name will never be blank for very long.

Come on Spotify, how difficult is to fix this issue??

Limit the maximum reports per user, and if it goes over that, ban the account.

Make the "default cover" unreportable....

Its very annoying....

SjorsWeijermar1

Fingers crossed Top50Clean 🤞. With your knowledge of the Spotify api, is it likely that someone has written a script to report the playlist every minute or is someone doing this manually?

PLAYTIFY

@sjorsweijermar1 it’s 100% a bot. Really easy to make without any robot detection like captcha
