Removing Podcast Recommendations

Even though I've never listened to a podcast on my Spotify account, Spotify keeps recommending me multiple podcasts that I've absolutely no interest in. And what's more bothering is that you can't remove them from your home page or block podcast suggestions completely at the moment.

I've also chatted with Spotify support and they told me it's not possible to remove podcast suggestions from home screen completely, and they suggested I wrote down my complaint on the community page so that users with similar complaints can make sure their voices are heard.

So please, if you're having the same problem as me, leave a remark on this and try to enhance user experience who only enjoy music and are not interested in listening to lame people yap about trivial stuff and think this is a good idea.

Edit: Hey everyone, it's relieving to see so many people sharing similar ideas about the horrific recommendation system Spotify has been implementing. Despite the fact that I have never, ever listened to a single minute of podcast, I still get recommended stoic mindset bulls*** or stand-up comedy or movie review podcasts. If I wanted to listen to a movie critique or wanted to watch or listen to a stand-up comedy show without interruption,  I'd pay for YouTube premium, not you damn Spotify. I wanna stream music and only MUSIC!!! Fix it!

People are asking for this 'feature' for 7+ years now, and spotify couldnt give less of a **bleep**. They will NEVER implement it. It is a shitty greedy company who literally seems to HATE their users.

I like podcasts and I listen to them... but only some days a week, while I listen to music almost everyday.

I want my home screen to be mostly music suggestions as it was before. Sometimes I'm not to sure what to listen and I want suggestions related to my taste and I cannot find them. The sub-page for music is not the same as it shows fewer options than we had before, while the main page has a lot more podcast suggestions.

I just want to listen to new episodes of the podcasts I already know. I don't want suggestions.

My home screen on desktop right now has 85 podcast suggestions and only 10 music suggestions, including "recently played".

The sub-page for music has only 20 suggestions. Why does the specific "music" subpage has less suggestions than podcasts on the main page? I don't need suggestions for 85 podcasts on a daily basis, for God's sake.

At the top of the homepage on Spotify on Mac/iOS/Android/Windows/Linux (deb), there are eight playlists which I've only listened to once or twice. They will not go away. EVER!!! I remember there was a point in time when Spotify would allow you to remove these. Then they took that feature away. I really like Spotify but I do not like how I'm not allowed to customize my own homepage. I know they allowed us to remove these playlists and have no clue why they removed that feature. I'm an app developer and know it's really not that difficult to implement this, or at least, take away the recommended playlists altogether. And if Spotify INSISTS on keeping this, for whatever reason, at least display playlists I actually listen to. I KNOW Spotify collects data on my "most listened to" playlist. This is an issue for me and everyone I know who has Spotify. Spotify, PLEASE listen to your consumers for once.

(Psst...Spotify, ur actually making ur platform worse by recommending these playlists)

My only conclusion is that Spotify makes money on misusing their subscribers as garbage cans for tons of unwanted music etc. Why else would they not allow us to remove their invasive suggestions and fool us into using smart shuffle (by combining it with shuffle) to destroy our playlists. I am so fed up with Spotify, but need my music.

Hi I’ve a feature that you’d really need to implement. It’s not ground breaking or anything but here it is..
Spotify will automatically play a new podcast episode after one ends, fantastic, love it.
What I don’t like is since, every now and then Spotify plays a particular podcast which I find annoying (presumably because I listened to half of an episode the first time it was recommended) . Can you implement a hide button so the podcast doesn’t come up automatically or isn’t showing on my homepage of Spotify? The most premium space on my Spotify (the homepage) shouldn’t be full of podcasts I’ve no interest in. Please allow us to help your algorithms by hiding/ muting certain artists/albums/podcasts etc

Thank you

Just to let Spotify know every show you "recommend" (which I know is really an ad) I watch enough of so I can 1-star it. Have a good day!

There should be an option to hide the "Picked for you" podcast or at least indicate that you are not interested in a particular suggested podcast.

For instance, I'm being suggested this deeply disturbing podcast every time I open the app and I scarcely listen to true crime (or podcasts at all).

Got recommended one interesting episode from an otherwise**bleep** podcast. Now the rest of that inane content shows up between my regular shows and it is driving me up the walls.

I listened to one episode of a podcast based on friend's recommendation, but I didn't like the podcast. But this podcast also releases short episodes every day, so now my home screen is full of it, and it's always under My Shows. Please give us a way to tell you that we don't like a specific podcast, so that it stops showing up in our feeds and on our home screen.

There's so much suggested podcast and audiobook content and I can't see what podcasts I follow or what their new episodes are.  I want the ability to turn off recommended content because it's super distracting and unhelpful.
