I’m sure there are thousands, if not millions, of users missing out on lossless audio streaming just because they want their full library on download and don’t have device storage for their entire library to be downloaded as lossless. If you’re like me, every “Liked Song” is downloaded to your device for offline streaming (plus some more). However, this really defeats the purpose of lossless audio for users wanting to stream lossless audio while only on WIFI connection; since the streaming quality always defaults to the local, downloaded quality (even when you are connected to WIFI). Considering the storage needed to download lossless audio songs, it is pretty impractical to download every song in your Liked Songs as lossless. Under this scenario, the only way to listen to a song in “lossless” quality would be to listen to songs that are not in your downloaded Liked songs, playlists, albums, etc. There should be a feature to default your streaming quality by your service connection and NOT by the downloaded quality: so, say you want a song downloaded as either “normal”, “high”, or even “very high” quality but you still want to listen to that song as “lossless” audio only when you’re connected to WIFI. Or maybe an option to stream the songs that you downloaded (on normal/high/very high quality) on a higher quality (lossless quality) while only connected to WIFI. I understand Spotify has an option to choose streaming quality on WIFI, however, this option/feature has a major flaw: if you stream previously downloaded songs, your streaming quality reverts to the downloaded audio quality, making the lossless audio option a very niche— partially useless— feature.
