Select and organize multiple Playlists

This is a direct copy of this idea which was originally posted 2 years ago.  I wasn't a user then, and this idea has since been made inactive, so I'm resurrecting it.  Even just a shift-select on the desktop app would help immeasurably.  Here's the original idea:

"I am looking for easy ways to organize my library.

I want to do some housekeeping in my library, but I find the current system of dragging and dropping individual playlists is too time consuming when the number of playlists reach this high.

First of all, there should be a way to select multiple playlists at once and be able to handle multiple playlists the same way as I can handle single playlist (ability to drag and drop, and rightclick w/ a special dropdown menu for multiple selected items).

Ctrl-clicking, shift-clicking and shift+arrowkeys would help greatly.

[Edit] This idea is nearing its 2 year anniversary of no official recognition. Good times! 🙂

As a sidenote my Spotify library now consists of 1296 playlists."

I'd be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY to infinity happy with this enhancement. 🙂

I have been a premium Spotify user since around 2010, and since then I have accumulated more than 400 playlists, 99% of them being single full albums.

When folders were added to Spotify I already had many playlists, and it was too much work to organize all of them within a folder structure, because it was only possible to move them one by one, and I was not even allowed to use the scrollwheel when dragging a playlist, which made the whole process EXTREMELY slow.

I was expecting this to be fixed within a few weeks after the introduction of folders ... I was so wrong.

If I decided to leave Spotify for another service, this would be the only big reason.

brought here because my suggestion was a duplicate idea. it's a shame spotify doesn't listen to this community.

At the mercy of metrics, unfortunately

Spotify sort this out, this a pretty basic feature.

Love seeing this be re-vived a bit.

Organizing spotify playlists in the desktop client with some simple shortcuts would be SOOOOOO helpful. If I could use ctrl-shift to select a bunch of playlists and then drag and drop into a folder that would be SOOOOOOOOOOO amazing.

Right now, since I try to do it one at a time so I hardly do it and it feels so tedious. Please help us music junies out, Spotify, PLEASE.

This is absolutely freaking outrageous! I just went to begin the process of re-importing my iTunes playlists, as I had added some songs and made a new playlist in iTunes (of music UNAVAILABLE on Spotify). In the past, the 1st step was simple:  I selected the old iTunes Playlist Folder in Spotify and deleted it (thereby deleting all ONE HUNDRED NINETY EIGHT Playlists within the iTunes Playlist Folder).

With the latest update:  I am now INSANELY FURIOUS that Spotify now deletes the iTunes Playlist Folder, but then LEAVES all the 198 playlists remaining in Spotify (just splayed out and sprawling). How on God's green earth can this happen Spotify?!?!?

And yes, one could argue that this new glitch should be in another thread, BUT WAIT, you know what would solve this absolutely ridiculously stupid problem:  being able to SELECT MULTIPLE PLAYLISTS to then delete them all at once after this shockingly annoying problem occurs!

This is such a basic function, be it PC or Mac:  selecting multiple of anything (via right click etc)!  What could possibly be going at Spotify HQ to leave this issue so brutally unaddressed (for 2 f***ing years)!  I have been using Spotify since 2011. There are parts of it that I love dearly (conceptually).  And then there is stuff like this that makes me want to bash my head against the wall (been quietly fuming about not being to select multiple playlists since I started using Spotify).

The idea of manually deleting 198 playlists one by one makes me want to go and smash stuff to pieces in a Rage Room:

http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2015/aug/12/rage-room-toronto

Hard to imagine that now if I re-import my iTunes there were will be this incredibly long duplicated scroll of playlists that will be massively confusing.  BONUS ISSUE:  I perform the iTunes Playlist Folder delete/re-import on the regular to get my new playlists into Spotfiy. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!

Please, for the LOVE OF ALL THAT'S RIGHT IN THE WORLD:  allow us to just freaking select multiple playlists and do with them what we will (delete them, add them to a playlist folder, etc).

Not one more "improvement" should be implemented before this SIMPLE feature is added.  I mean, one can select multiple tracks, why not multiple playlists...?  I cannot honestly believe how long this thread is!  It's mind boggling how this could possibly be a problem in 2015!

Don't you guys AT SPOTIFY use this software???  Doesn't THIS drive you guys freaking crazy as well...???  How could it not...???

Please explain to me how you love wasting huge piles of time manually interacting with one playlist at a time, rather than selecting multiple playlists all at once:  I am eager to hear your reply!

In the meantime, I am left nothing short of  FLABBERGASTED by this INFURIATING ISSUE!!!

I hear you. You asked the right question. Do Spotify shotcallers use spotify? apparently not. At least not as they should.  Just make this release possible!

rhymus

Yes, fuzzyfresh! What the heck do Spotify music employee/developer headz do??? There's gotta be some that like to organize albums/playlists into folders. (BTW, a quick but related tangent, the Save feature is lame. Do people actually use that? It' would have been better to invest in multi-select!! This is Steve Jobesque design mistake that's fine when you're just as much a fashion statement as an utility, but Spotify is just an utlitly not a freaking fashion statement!) What about you moderators out there? How are you using folders and playlists and not left wanting to "bash my head against the wall"?

In my particular case I have folders for genres. For example I have one called Indie / All Kinds and in it I have almost 500 playlists which are just albums. I can click shuffle and it's bliss. But if I ever want to drop a bunch of playlists/albums into it or move a bunch out it's a nightmare. I have about 15-20 folders like this...none quite as large but some are getting into low triple digits. A simple **bleep** click or shift ctrl (or apple, whatever) click...would be so awesome!!

Agree, this (basic) functionality is very much missing now
