The ability to disable the Jam function.

Ok so Jam function seems incredibly odd to begin with, but I suppose in a rare instance where you want to listen to love songs with someone who's far away at the exact same time, or you're running a silent Disco, there might be a use for it for a very small number of people.

But there should be an option to disable it in your settings. Let's start with the hypothetical scenario that I don't want to run into: A crazy ex or a stalker trying to send me their sad playlist everyday. Also, and possibly more frustrating, is the automatic prompt that comes of when you and another person listening to Spotify are on the same Wi-Fi. Why am I being sent an unprompted question without an invitation from another user in my home or business if I would like to join and listen to exactly what they're listening to at the same time. If I happen to want that, would I not just play the music aloud? We obviously already started listening to what we want to listen to on our own devices by ourselves, so why would I suddenly want to listen to exactly what they want to listen to?  Automatically searching for users on the same Wi-Fi seems crazy intrusive to me what if we're on a public Wi-Fi at a mall? How many prompts would you'd be receiving to join? Anyway I don't mind if this crazy feature (that I'm willing to bet a Year's membership that under 5% of users use monthly) stays on the app,  I just want the ability to turn it off so it doesn't bother me while I'm listening to music by myself.

At a party one of my friends kids via the “Jam” function took over my high end HiFi, maxed the volume and blew the speakers. I don’t want anyone to join my system. You need to be able to disable jam, period, to stop this happening. Make it an option that you can opt into and do not allow everyone to join by default. I know you can do this at the time but you don’t always remember to delete and as a jam doesn’t ask you to approve for someone to join this is not a good feature. I’m now left with a expensive problem

This is a horrible garbage feature. Massive privacy breach and generally **bleep**ing annoying. Why on earth do we not even have the option to disable it?

I got in my car today and my friend was driving on the highway a few kilometers east of me. She got notified to join my jam. She did, and started controlling my music while I was driving just to mess with me for several minutes. I had no idea what was going on with my Spotify. We had a laugh about it when I saw her later and she told me it was her. But the way you guys have set up jams is ridiculous. I have no idea how many people have been invited to join my jams that I never even wanted to be initiated in the first place. I don't want people having visibility into what I'm listening to. Not to mention she and I don't follow each other on Spotify, we were too far from each other for Bluetooth to connect us, and we were certainly not on the same network.

Just because I share a network with others does not mean I want them to be able to join or not join my jams. I also don't want to see other people's jams. How do I turn this off? I see websites stating settings I don't have to turn it off. And turning off Spotify's permissions to access my networks doesn't help because then I can't play on my speaker

THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!! Even with my wifi off people can still join my jam. NOBODY WANTS AN AUTOMATIC JAM- LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. This is a security concern!! I've had people change my car spotify music while DRIVING on a highway. I am already looking at other streaming services. This has been an issue for well over a year and y'all haven't even acknowledged it.

My wife has her own practise at home, everytime she starts her music my Spotify wants me to join her Jam...

Realy utterly frustrating you can't disable that function.

If i misclick and join her jam by mistake she will hear my totally unwanted music over her speaker.

Please let me disable this unwanted feature, give us the option.

from the FAQ:

Tip: Spotify will automatically start a Jam when you are connecting to a smart speaker or most Bluetooth speakers. Users on the same WiFi will receive an invitation to your Jam. If both you and others have Bluetooth permissions enabled, others will receive an invitation to your Jam by tapping your phone.

I don't want this to happen - allow me to disable it!

can someone describe to me a scenario where this could ever be wanted...

irritating, frustrating and distracting.

I also agree with the comments above, this feature either needs to be taken off all together or at least an option to turn it off.

I use jams with my partner at home so when the jams invite popped up I just clicked join. Then I realized I was on my neighbors (I assume since I don’t know their names)! I was apparently connected to their speaker and could see what they were listening to. I don’t know them and have never connected with them before, don’t have their wifi info, etc. I then left the jam and tried to figure out a setting to keep this from happening. I don’t want to be offered their jams and I certainly don’t want them to be able to access our speakers! There seems to be no way to do this except turning Jams off entirely (I don’t want to do that because we use it at home). Help!

Has there been any resolution on this? I cannot find a way to disable this stupid Jam feature. Should definitely be a setting or option to turn on/off. Who thought this was a good idea?
