The ability to disable the Jam function.

Ok so Jam function seems incredibly odd to begin with, but I suppose in a rare instance where you want to listen to love songs with someone who's far away at the exact same time, or you're running a silent Disco, there might be a use for it for a very small number of people.

But there should be an option to disable it in your settings. Let's start with the hypothetical scenario that I don't want to run into: A crazy ex or a stalker trying to send me their sad playlist everyday. Also, and possibly more frustrating, is the automatic prompt that comes of when you and another person listening to Spotify are on the same Wi-Fi. Why am I being sent an unprompted question without an invitation from another user in my home or business if I would like to join and listen to exactly what they're listening to at the same time. If I happen to want that, would I not just play the music aloud? We obviously already started listening to what we want to listen to on our own devices by ourselves, so why would I suddenly want to listen to exactly what they want to listen to?  Automatically searching for users on the same Wi-Fi seems crazy intrusive to me what if we're on a public Wi-Fi at a mall? How many prompts would you'd be receiving to join? Anyway I don't mind if this crazy feature (that I'm willing to bet a Year's membership that under 5% of users use monthly) stays on the app,  I just want the ability to turn it off so it doesn't bother me while I'm listening to music by myself.

PLEASE TURN OFF JAMS, I TURNED THEM OFF FOR MY SPEAKER & IT JUST RANDOMLY TURNED BACK ON AGAIN SO ANYBODY IN MY HOUSE CAN JUST SPY ON MY MUSIC, THIS IS LIKE AN INVASION OF MY PRIVACY, PLEASE GET RID OF THIS FUNCTION

I am so tired of being a spotify user, you guys literally only care about getting our money and rolling out useless new features

I fully agree, i turned this feature off for these exact reasons and it mysteriously turned back on. its so invasive of my privacy, especially because ive found out there are people who have been spying on my music without me knowing because of this feature. please spotify just get rid of this useless & creepy feature or ill switch to a different music provider. ive been paying for the stupid subscription so i am not listening to an ad after every song but the paid subscription is nothing better.

100% agree. This feels instantly intrusive and bizarre that it turns on by itself. Even crazier that you can't turn it off! I chose to block running Spotify on the background and deal with the constant notification pushes to turn the background running back on. You can probably tell from some stats by now that this is not used by most if even many users so why would you have it forced so hard!? Seriously I would really like to know why.

Jams are so frikkin annoying. Everytime I open the app I’m bombarded with jam requests. I just wanna listen to my music Spotify!

I ended up getting rid of this by blocking Spotify to run in the background. I'm sure this is not what Spotify want's users to do. Price appears to be occasional stop of audio from spotify but just have to hit play again. Also, now I get a notification here and there asking to allow Spotify to run in the background. Just remove this dumbest feature ever. Or at least add the option to disable it. WHY WOULD YOU NOT ALLOW USERS TO DISABLE THIS!

Braelando

Please please please please please please please allow users to disable the jam feature. The way it automatically invites people and they can join without you even knowing is scary and invasive. I want to listen to my music in peace 😞

wmrand68

please add the ability to disable this jam function permanently. thank you

I keep trying to tell Spotify support that the Jam function is interfering with normal playback. Just now my playback stopped. I went to the "queue" list on the application and right there was a big fat notification popup encouraging me to utilize Jam to share music with my friends.  It looks as if the jam pop-up pre-empted (took the focus from) the playlist queue, which is certainly where the notification was situated....

Give us an off-switch. And remove the Jam popups. I'd suggest.

Why can I not upvote this "idea"? I fully support getting rid of the horrible Jam feature.

It is, as people keep pointing out, an invasion of the users' privacy.

Everyone can just listen in on what you're listening to? That sounds like a feature that would not only need to be enabled by a user, but also confirmed for every single person trying to join.

On other software, you need to turn it on AND set passwords for stuff like this, so that randos don't just just creep on you.

I cannot believe anyone greenlit this, let alone let it go on for so long.

The Jam function is so incredibly frustrating. Even when I press the not now option or whatever it is called, every 2 seconds (not an exaggeration) the same person’s jam pops up again with the prompt. The only way i’ve found to stop this is by turning off my mobile data for spotify. Please @spotify, can you create an option to disable jam session requests entirely. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thankyou.
