Video and Music content Separation

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using the new Music Videos feature, but the integration currently feels a bit "cluttered" because there isn't a clear distinction between the video file and the audio track.

The main issue is that videos are exclusively accessible by playing the song and then switching to video and are treated exactly like songs in terms of UI, which leads to some messy inconsistencies:

• Inconsistent Aspect Ratios: On the TV App, both songs and videos are forced into a 16:9 thumbnail. However, on Mobile, if you manage to add a video to a playlist, it’s forced into a 1:1 cover. This makes it very hard to distinguish at a glance what is a music video and what is just a song.

What I suggest to improve this:

• We need a clear "Video" entity that is separate from the "Song" entity. This would allow us to:

  1. Create Video-only playlists that play the visual content natively without having to manually toggle "Switch to Video" every time.

  2. See dedicated 16:9 thumbnails for videos across all platforms so we know exactly what we are clicking on.

Right now, the experience feels a bit mashed together. Treating videos as their own format rather than just an "audio track extension" would make the library much cleaner.

I would like to ask why it is used video content newly on Spotify originally only audio portal/application?

My recommendation is to use separatelly songs with only audio content due to savings on Internet tranfers - especially to work offices.

And separatelly video songs (other app? or commonly used in Spotify?).

It means to have content in 2 forms.

One only in audio and one also in video form.

Could you try to think about this solution? Solution in this way?

I think, as far as I know, storrage is not now as expensive as in the past.

But batteries in mobiles are too much used when using video and in the company offices when video transfer is used, then much more data needs to be transferred than when only audio file is transferred. In the office durig the work I do not need to see a song. I am working on computer. So, only sound is interresting for me.

This is my idea and recommendation to you.

I would like to ask you, please, think about it. 

At least consider this idea.
