Welcome all! This post is something I probably should've done sooner, but here it is! This will serve as both an introduction to JJ's Bizarre Blogs for the uninitiated and a handy guide to find all blogs in one convenient place. Here we go!
JJ's Bizarre Blog is my own personal project here on the Community. On a bi-weekly basis, I make a new blog exploring a different musical topic, sharing exciting songs related to it and exploring everything it has to offer. I've covered all kinds of things and almost anything is on the table to be covered! Naturally, each blog also includes a playlist with all features songs and then some for your musical discovery! The blogs are dividable into different categories which I'll explain below and after that, you can find a list of all blogs in order of release. Here we go!
Topic Focused
This is the broadest category and basically refers to blogs about songs united by some kind of common theme. It could be the subject matter, such as songs about fantasy or ones covering historical topics. Alternatively, it could be some kind of unifying aspect, such as fictional bands, artists that drastically changed their sound, etc. Or it could be something much broader like songs from video games or good tracks for partying to. Anything and everything can be found here!
Genre Focused
A straightforward blog type, basically I take any genre that interests me and cover it in as much detail as possible within the constraints of the blog format. I cover how, when and where it originated, the pioneering artists that aided in its creation and a chronological exploration of how the genre evolved and grew over time, including the various subgenres that spawned from it later on. I try to showcase the global presence of the genre, local scenes, its place in musical history and unique aspects of the subculture around it.
Band/Artist Focused
A common and more specific blog type, I basically take any artist or band and explore their entire discography in chronological order, covering their formation, history, evolution of their sound, lineup changes, etc. as I go. I usually include side projects of current and former members as well as other related bands too. More often I also take a specific person instead and cover their own musical career across all bands and projects they've been a part of. It has become a tradition that every 10th blog is band/artist focused.
Country Overview
One of the more ambitious subsections of blogs. Here I take the musical output of an entire nation and try to present as much of it as possible, covering everything from old folk songs, through classical music to their various outputs across popular genres and any possible genres that either originated there or have formed a strong local scene. I try to showcase the unique spin the artists from each country give on their music and how they nation's culture and history influences their artistry.
Decades Overview
Another massive undertaking, these are comparable to the country blogs, but instead of conquering space, I try to conquer time. In each entry, I cover the music from a specific decade of the past, from popular music dominating the charts that goes on to form the core vibe and zeitgeist of the era to more obscure gems that have gone underappreciated with time. I also showcase the most important evolutions and innovations that have come from that decade and how they continue to influence music today. We all know how each decade seems to have its own recognizable sound, so I try to capture that in these.
Special Cases
This is more of an umbrella term for specific blogs that don't fit neatly into the existing categories. For this mostly refers to the Precious Gems Collection entries, where I list a collection of various artists, usually lesser known ones, that I can't cover in a full blog entry. This is usually because the band's discography is too brief, too long, there aren't enough interesting changes or developments or for other reasons I cannot realistically cover their discography in detail. In future, expect more unique blogs of varying styles that will transcend the traditional categories I've set.

So there you go, hope this helps! The Bizarre Blogs are easily my favourite thing to work on here on the Community as they allow me to combine my passion for all facets of music with my love of writing and share all these wonderful things with you all. They help us all enjoy the vast musical library of Spotify in all of its glory. I hope you enjoy reading them at least half as much as I enjoy writing them.
Cheers and take care!
