Spotify Curated Playlists

Sorry if this has been asked before, but the playlists that spotify curates, are they all tweaked based on the users personal listening habits.

I have this one called Even Flow by Spotify and told my mate to check it out, but his songs were completely different to mine? I listen to heaps of playlists created by Spotify, are they all like this?
