Issues loading the TV app

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to open the Spotify app on their TVs. Some see a blank screen, others see a white rectangle or the Spotify logo, and the app does not load any further.

 

The issue seems to appear on different operating systems.

We have good news from our teams - this should now be fixed! We're also seeing some comments that things are back on track again, that's great to hear 🎉

 

If you're still experiencing issues, make sure to give the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier here a shot. You can post a new thread in the relevant help board here, should this app behavior persist.

Started last week - TV and SmartHub have been factory reset. TV is running latest firmware. Model is UE40JU7000T

 

Common denominator seems to be that our TV's are a few years old. Have Spotify pushed out an update that might be impacting people with older models?

 

ITV did this with their ITVx app earlier this year - will no longer run on TV's manufactured between 2012 - 2015!

 

If Spotify have done the same it would have been nice to have been notified and it's not very good from a sustainability point of view given that there's nothing wrong with my TV otherwise.

Hello. We are having the same issue - started the last week of October. We have a Samsung curved TV from 2013. Current version of software is 1260. No new updates available. It just has a black screen and then after awhile it has that hollow rectangular box on the black screen - the exact same image the original poster had.

I am having the same issue with my Samsung tv. Spotify was working fine until a few weeks, now only get this white screen of death. I was on chat with Spotify for over two hours, went through all their suggestions (delete and reinstall app, turn tv on and off, turn wifi on and off) but still nothing solved.

Same issue on my end, with my landlord's Samsung TV. Model is LT32E390S. I saw another user has the same TV.

I just get a white screen when I open Spotify, cannot log out or remove cache. Other apps work fine. I cannot reset the TV because I don't have the PIN to do so since it's not my TV. Tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling a few times, to no avail.

The issue has been lasting for at least a week but could have started earlier as I was not using Spotify on my TV for a little while.

 

Considering the global efforts and needs in terms of sustainability, I hope it is not Spotify's intention to stop supporting older (but working) TVs.

I have the same problem on my Samsung JU6400, white screen of death. I saw that the app has been updated today, but it still doesn't work.

I have the same problem on Samsung UE55JU6800 and Spotify v2.1.0 (date 12/11/2024). 

When I open the app, the logo appears and then it goes to a blank white screen and nothing else. Spotify, please release a fixed version.

hi, here the same issue, did the reset of router, tv in general, reset smart hub, reset phone, ... everything still a white screen...
