Issues with playing tunes outside of Liked Songs or playlists on the desktop app

Hey there,

We're aware of issues with playing songs outside of the Liked Songs collection or playlists.

This is being investigated.

Hi folks,

A few days have passed, so the latest version which includes the fix should now be available to everyone! You'll find more info on how to update the app in this article.

Once again thank you all for the collective effort in aiding us during the investigation. You're awesome!

Cheers!

Awesome! Thanks for confirming folks! I'm honestly so happy to finally hear that!

A massive thank you to each and every one of you in this thread. The help and dedication you've shown here is beyond admirable, and for that you have our utmost respect!

We'll give this a few more days so that the others can also confirm the desktop app's working normally now. Fingers crossed!

Cheers everyone! You rock!

@bkapps I also installed an older version (1.1.53.608) that I managed to get from Intenet Archive and it works fine. It's obviously a bug in the latest versions of Spotify for Windows.

Thank you @bkapps - This is the only fix that has worked for me so far.

Now I'll either wait or never upgrade again. Appreciate your findings.

Have had this problem for about 6 months now. Are they ever planning to fix this? I see Spotify has their priorities straight, overhauling the UI of an app that DOESN'T WORK 🤡

Updating at all gets me back to the issue but downgrading like mentioned in my previous comment lets me actually use the damn program. Repository does not fix anything for me.

Good thing there's no way to stop auto updates. Thanks team.

Cannot play songs that are not in a playlist or not liked.

Os: Windows 10 22H2
Spotify Version: Spotify voor Windows 1.2.8.923.g4f94bf0d

tried it on arch Linux, no problems, same network and same DNS server. Don't have DNS filters

Also tried every solution:

* Reinstalling
* getting the app from the MS store
* Searching the Whole C drive to delete everything
* Removing the Repo
* Rebooting
* With VPN
* Other DNS server

@Kanberals Actually there's a way to stop the auto updates. Watch this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPUFzDes_Eg

(For those using VPN)
In order to use spotify - I need to use VPN.
In my case this helps:
1. Close Spotify;
2. Turn off VPN;
3. Turn on VPN;
4. Open Spotify.
Have to do it every time I turn on my PC.
Just restarting Spotify doesn't seem to help.

Win11 seem to be more prone to this issue. I tried both WMI reset and downgraded with no luck at all. Have to use a web client for now, so no Enhanced playlists for now 😭
