Non-car Bluetooth devices displaying in Car View mode

Hey there,

We've seen reports of some Bluetooth connections to other devices displaying Car View. The right team is aware of this.

If you're experiencing this, let us know by adding your +Vote the info requested in the Status Update.

All the best!

Hey folks!

We're aware of individual cases where this still happens and will continue looking into the issue.
We don't have an immediate ETA for a fix, but it's on our radar.

Keep your apps up to date at all times and we'll let you know once there's new info on our end 🙂
Thanks!

@Katerina , the issue that @jeremy-shep describes is a slightly different manifestation of the same issue/root cause.  This thread can be better-summarized as “Car View doesn’t work when the user wants, or expects, it to work”.  The two most obvious cases:

  1. A user is NOT in a car, and Car View IS triggered.
  2. A user IS in a car, and Car View IS NOT triggered.

Based on my PIDOOMA analysis, I think your software is enabling Car View if the connected device happens to use a Bluetooth profile that allows a microphone.  I bought a new Bluetooth adapter for my old car, and was able to get Car View.

It would help if Spotify documentation provided a little more information on the technical details that govern Car View, so we could find compliant devices to behave in the way we want/expect  them to.

Hello,

I'm using some Huawei AM61 bluetooth headphones and a Huawei Nova 3i. When the headphones were connected to my phone the last listended track on Spotify suddenly starts playing. I hoped when I turn off Car View it'll stop, but nothing. Only the looking of the Car View is disappeared.

Thanks.

Bluetooth device make, model, and what it's called in the Connect picker or Car

Sony WI-XB400, it is called "WI-XB400"

Car dashboard make and model

Kia Soul 2012

A description of the issue. E.g. were you pushed to Car View when connecting to earphones? Did you get car view when connecting to your car at all?

Every time I connect to the aforementioned headphones Spotify goes into car view, and yes Spotify automatically goes into car view when connected to my car correctly

I have a Samsung A50, and whenever I get in my 2008 BMW 535D, Spotify just starts playing on my phone. The car doesn't even allow music playing by Bluetooth, its just phone calls. I've turned Carview and Autoplay off anyway, still no change.

Device: iPhone 11 Pro
Bluetooth speaker: SACKit BOOMit https://sackit.eu/produkt/1056/boomit-

I'm having the same issue. My phone is a Samsung A70 and another phone is the A50. When Spotify is on and I'm logged in, Spotify plays music automatically when I connect you the car Bluetooth (i.e when I start the car) I can pause and when I finish a call or turn the radio on and turn back to Bluetooth stereo, Spotify plays automatically again. It is annoying to say the least. I have turned off the automatic car mode etc to no effect. My car is a Nissan with gracenote system software Nissan connect services version F034. Phone is Samsung A70 Android version 9.

Hi, I'm also having issues here: I don't see car view when my phone connects to my car audio system. Details below:

  • Bluetooth device make, model, and what it's called in the Connect picker or Car
  • Car dashboard make and model
    • 2003 Acura MDX. My phone connects to a third-party bluetooth device, the TP-Link HA100 (see above), which is connected to my car stereo by an aux cable.
  • A description of the issue. E.g. were you pushed to Car View when connecting to earphones? Did you get car view when connecting to your car at all?
    • TLDR - I don't see car view when my phone connects to my car audio system. I have seen car view when using my phone on a rental car's audio system, so I don't think it's an issue with my phone or car view overall. I'd love a way to get car view going on my own car: either manual (ie., "always use car view when connected to TP_link_audio") or automatic (if you can add this device to a whitelist etc)

Thanks for gathering feedback and looking forward to updates!

Katerina
