’Repeat All’ turns itself on

I’m a Premium member, in the US, on an iPhone 8 with iOS 12.  I’m having an issue where the “Repeat All” function continually resets to on.  This used to happen just when I opened the app anew, so I for some time just left Spotify always open and that prevented “Repeat All” from turning back on; however, for the last month or two, “Repeat All” turns on even if I just minimize the app, often several times a day.  There was a Community Post on this same issue (from DanHazard, which is now closed) where the Tech person recommended restarting the iPhone, but this has not helped.  I am an album-listener (as in, not a radio- or playlist-listener) and I absolutely hate that the albums keep repeating!  For one thing, I often switch to a completely different genre for my next choice; hearing the same one restart kinda makes me hate the album.... I get sick of the same one!  Since I listen all day at work (I build houses), it is often very difficult for me to stop what I am doing to change the music, so I am stuck with the repeating album for a while. I also use a song or album’s length as a gauge of how long a task is taking me (in construction, many quick tasks FEEL like they take forever and you feel you are wasting time when you are not; conversely, it’s easy to get lost in complicated tasks and end up spending more time than you wanted), so the Repeat ruins that, too.

To make matters worse, the last update just moved the button to turn Repeat off into a submenu of the Now Playing screen, making it even harder for me keep an eye on that pesky little Repeat!

Please help!

Hey all,

Thanks for all of the info. We've let our tech team know, and they're investigating this. We don't have an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend keeping an eye out for updates to the app.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

Exactly the same as I wrote with Audi !!

Using just Bluetooth. Apple Music works fine, so that is a Problem of the Spotify App.

•An exact description of what happens, step by step.

Happens even when turning off the repeat function as soon as it goes to the next song.

Had completed the latest update and was not going into "repeat".  But two days later it is again.

I have completed the reinstall multiple times and only works unitl Spotify is turned back on again.  Usually staus off repeat for a few tracks selected then goes into repeat mode.

•When did it start?

Been hapopening for years now, do know exact dates.

•Does this happen across different devices?

Yes, Iphone and MacBook Pro

•Does it happen with different internet connections?

Yes, while on internet and Data Connection.

•Are you using the Connect feature? Does turning it on and off make any difference?
Use Bluetooth connection to Sync (Ford), Entune (Toyota) and Sony Bluetooth Speaker.

•Your device model, OS, and Spotify version.

Iphone 6, IOS 12.1.4

MacBookPro (2018) Mojave, V. 10.14.3

Spotify Version 8.4.93.796

•A screenshot (or screen recording if possible).

Do not have.

Thank you for assistance!

Hello Guido,

Thank you for the update.

I have been documenting my issue more closely...

I have been noticing that the 'Repeat all" tends turn it self on autromatically more often when I select to play an album, ep, but more often when selecting a single from the "New Releases for You" selections.  "repeat all" then keeps itself on from that point, unless I close the app, or even need to shutdown or reinstall.  It then automatically turns it self back again after about 5 hours+ of app use.

I also noticed that after selecting "shuffle" during a playlist, that shuffle will then automaically turn itself onwhen I select other playlists.  This happened this morning and I needed to close and and shutdown the device.

All these instances happend while I was using my iphone 6, v12.1.4 through Sync (ford) bluetooth connection.

Help this helps your team.

Thanks!

Just to add to this. I use Spotify on Android 9 and Windows 10 and am experiencing the same issue starting about the same time as this was reported.

I would like to add; that this issue is becoming worse.  I will check the replay and turn off, but when a song gets to the end, the replay turns itself back on.  Also, Shuffle automatically turns itself on as well.

Come on Spotify - lets fix this!

I’m having the same issue and have been for a new months now. I’m about ready to cancel my subscription and move to Apple Music.

it certainly seems to be something to do with car Bluetooth. I checked mine before paring with my bmw 4 series and the repeat function was turned off, I entered my car, the music began playing and it was still turned off. Half way through my journey when the albums should have ended and the album radio should have started the **bleep** album repeated again! When I finished my journey the repeat function was now displaying as turned on.

My car is a 2014 model so it doesn’t have the Spotify app that some other BMW’s do.

hope that helps you diagnose it. If it isn’t fixed very soon then I’m off. I’m sure a load of others are but they aren’t telling you why.

I have an Audi and have the same problem with Apple Music after switching from Spotify. Despite everything, I regret the change not because I find that Apple Music has now clearly followed with the recommendations and from the overview and the operation is better than Spotify. This only as an indication for you if you want to switch to Apple Music, then you have this problem in part.

I am also experiencing this issue, and find it annoying. I'm on iPhone XR  running iOS 13.3.1. This seems to happen when I plug the phone in via USB to my car.

So, what’s going on with this? I’m having exactly the same problem.
