Shuffle not working on iOS

Hey folks!

 

Some of you have reported that Shuffle isn't working on iOS. Nothing happens when you tap on the Shuffle icon - only Smart Shuffle seems to work.
This is being looked into 🙂

While this is being looked into, let us know the following details:

1.  Your device's make & model, as well as its OS version
2. Your Spotify app version
3. Does Shuffle not appear as an option in the playlist view and is it shown in the 'Now Playing' view?
4. Description of the exact issue:
     a) Does Shuffle turn off after selecting a particular song?
     b) Are the Shuffle and repeat buttons completely greyed out and unclickable?

It would be of help if you could share with us a short video recording or a link to e.g. an unlisted YouTube video/ Google Drive upload of what is going on on your ends.

Hello, new user here.

 

I was happily using Spotify as a free user, however after signing up for Premium the shuffle button has stopped working on my playlists too. Why is this still an issue?

New user to Spotify, just upgraded to supposedly better features but just run into this ongoing issue.

 

Shuffle & smart shuffle worked fine on the free account but change to Premium & although the icon is there on the playlist page when you click it nothing happens. You have to go into the Now Playing screen for it work.

 

Very very frustrating & this seems to have been going on for a long time without resolution.

Not a good start for me with the platform.

Since this issue seems to be account age related, the only solution right now since this issue has been ongoing for over a year is to log in to an older account that you might have and sign up to premium. The shuffle features work fine on older accounts but are broken on newer ones. Seems to be a very problematic issue which will take some time to fix as it’s happening on a large scale of new accounts. Try going to the Spotify login page and type in some of your older email addresses that you may have signed up for a Spotify account with and you may be lucky enough to find one. This is the workaround I am using myself - I discovered an older account that I registered before this issue surfaced and it’s working just fine. The issue is happening on new accounts when they join Premium.

I have a iPhone 13 mini, iOS 18.7.2. I deleted my Spotify app and reinstalled it. Logged off and logged back in and still it doesn’t work. I’m very disappointed as I just upgraded to a premium membership. If this isn’t fixed soon and some discount is provided to those affected, I will consider switching to a different music streaming service
