Songs in Play queue are duplicated

Hey folks!

We've received reports that deleting or adding songs in the play queue creates duplicates. This issue only seems to affect the mobile app and playlists with over 50 songs. This is being looked into.

Hi there folks,

We can confirm that this issue should be resolved as long as you're updated to the following app versions:

  • Desktop: 1.2.44.329
  • Android: 8.9.66.358
  • iOS: 8.9.66.288

We will be closing this thread as Fixed. If you have any other similar issues, reach out in the Help section and we'd be happy to help you further.

Cheers!

This is what shows up for me daily. It repeats more than my screenshot. If I delete the song from the queue and then close the queue window it seems to work but just keeps on happening throughout the day.

As of August 13, 2024, I received an update that seems to have fixed the issue.

I can't confirm it properly, since the version mentioned by SoughtAnarchy is not (yet?) available to me, but it's still live in my versions. I've tried updating in both the Google Play for my Android, and on PC with the Microsoft Store, but neither have a newer update available.

 @SoughtAnarchy
I'll keep an eye out I'm not seeing the update yet. I'm still in 1.243.420.0 like @muhahalol

Status changed to: Fixed

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience once again.

Here's the steps on when the issue manifests itself:

  1. On Android or PC, start listening to a playlist with more than 80 songs.
  2. If you then open the queue and remove, as an example, 10 consecutive songs from the middle of the list, the last 10 songs at the end of the queue (which the app automatically filled) will be an exact copy of the previous 10 songs.
  3. The app maintains the same number of songs in the list. Removing X songs will add X songs. The added songs are always a copy of the last songs in the list. This means randomly removing a single song in the queue creates multiple copies of the last song.

Please keep in mind that the fix for this issue is still rolling out. We can confirm that it should come in the app versions below:

  • Desktop: 1.2.44.329
  • Android: 8.9.66.358
  • iOS: 8.9.66.288

Note that it might take a couple of updates for you to see the fix in some devices.

Thanks for understanding!

I'm still mad. Fix it now. It's been over a month. It can't take this long to fix this issue. My subscription ends today and if it's not fixed by then, I'll have to day goodbye after eight years straight of Spotify premium.

My subscription ran out. Therefore there is no way to check to see if the issue is fixed. Email me when it's actually fixed and you'll get my money again. But you won't get a single penny from me a single second before it's fixed.

I've just updated my Android app again and I can personally confirm that this issue has (finally) been fixed!! The Spotify app version currently installed on my phone is 8.9.66.543
