Spotify stops playing after an ad

We've received reports that Spotify pauses after an ad and the playback cannot be resumed. This seems to affect multiple platforms including desktop, mobile, and TV.

The behavior is currently being investigated.

Hey folks,

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version.

Thanks again!

Hey everyone,

Thank you again for sharing the requested details.

All reports have been forwarded to the team investigating this, however, they're still having difficulties tracing the root cause and need your help.

For this you'll just need to confirm you're willing to participate and share your device details if you haven't already. If you have, just share your current Spotify app version so we have the most up-to-date info.

Once you've done so, we'll post a confirmation in the thread that your account is being monitored by the devs and you'll need to reproduce the issue again giving us the timestamp of its last occurrence.

Hopefully, this will allow the team to spot the error and fix it.

Looking forward to your replies 🙏

device: playstation 5

i recently (friday 13th june) got given my brothers playstation 5 and after an ad break, the final ad will freeze and will not play if i press pause and play again. it will also not let me pick a song to play as it’s still technically in an ad break. sometimes it will be after 1 ad break but other times it may be after 2 ad breaks. you don’t really know when it’s going to happen, it just does. i’ve tried clearing cache, logging in and out, deleting and reinstalling the app, and of course pressing pause and play, none of which work, meaning i have to refresh the app in order to be able to listen to my music again, until the next ad break. i have listened to spotify on mobile after i noticed this and i do not have this issue.

You have to make sure that all your other email addresses are closed out if you using the same email it has trouble playing on two different devices make sure you sign out on every device that has some of my problems signing out and signing back in especially if you have two different emails later just

It's bothersome. when it occures and it ain't first time that some apps freeze up Spotify that it no longer works properly. Reinstalling, restarting and signing back up have been found out to be temporary fixes on this end. Sure it works fine... until yet another random add does excatly same halt as
