Add Spotify Radio to SONOS, please!

Spotify, please provide SONOS with the ability to support Spotify Radio.

Spotify Radio was originally introduced as a Spotify App on the desktop Spotify client before being made available to the mobile app versions. Spotify Apps are small applications written within the Spotify platform and are not made available to third-party platforms like Sonos at this time. Spotify does not yet provide us with the ability to support Spotify Radio. We understand that this is a top feature request from the Sonos-Spotify community and are in discussions with Spotify on possible future implementation.

If you feel strongly about the Spotify Radio feature on Sonos, be sure to add your comments to the Spotify community, in addition to this topic here. Like Sonos, Spotify is a company that greatly values the opinions and feedback of their user community.

It is a lasting dissapointment that Radio is not avilalble through Sonos. Please work with the Sonos team to implement.

Yes, please make Spotify Radio avaiable for Sonos users!  This is the only reason I continue to use Pandora ....  Would prefer to have Spotify everywhere.

I wanted to buy some Sonos system but checked a bit before. Now it is clear that I will not be able to use it as I want so I am waiting until there is a decent offer (i.e., Spotify radio works on Sonos or one of Spotify's competitor offers something similar to Spotify Radio that works with Sonos - same could work the other way around for Sonos as I might consider buying something else than Sonos stuff if one of Sonos' competitors get access to Spotify Radio first).

I doubt if the spotify radio functionality will ever come to SONOS *sad face*

But i'm still verry happy with my sonos, and with spotify (for now)

There are other services like spotify beginning to get popular... so who know... i might switch teams.

I'm just wondering if somebody from Spotify is even reading these postings?

And if so, could somebody from spotify please explain WHY they are not releasing the radio API to third partys like SONOS?

I just dont understand.....

It is taking way too long, and I read messages from Sonos that this will NOT be implemented or even considered. At this moment at least it is not planned...

That is my reason to cancel my premium account with Spotify. 

The web player on my PC will be fine with a cheaper account.

I will return as premium member when this will be planned, introduced and solved.

ok... this is weird...

I have been following this discussion for quite a long while now.

And i thought, what the heck... lets contact SONOS and Spotify helpdesk once again on the issue.

SONOS replyed verry quickly, compliments on that.

They say it is Spotify who don't want to implement the Radio functionality in the spotify app on SONOS.
And they even pointed me towards alternatives like Deezer, who do offer radio functionality on SONOS.

Spotify answered the next day.

The Spotify customer service replyed that it is SONOS who need to give permision to Sopitfy to implement the functionality.

And that spotify wants to implement this feature.

So the two helpdesks are pointing at eachother......

I guess one of the two is not well informed.

Maybe we should just all continue mailing both helpdesks and keep asking for this functionality until they give in 🙂

As far as I am aware, radio is not provided in the libspotify SDK (which I would assume Sonos use, although they do have multi-room support so maybe not).

If they use libspotify, the finger should most definitely be pointed at Spotify IMO.

Sonos are currently not planning this feature as Spotify will not provide the API.

maybe it really is time to go to Deezer!!! -- obviously there is a problem with Sonos and Spotify talking to each other and I use the radio app more than anything else, currently I am playing radio through Last FM and playlists through Spotify, life would be far easier just to do everything through one provider ???

I tested spotify radio and took a premium account which I have for a couple of months now.  The idea has always been to connect a sonos system.  I received my system today, and it's a real disappointment that it's impossible to connect to spotify radio.

So I'll leave spotify real soon if this isn't solved ASAP

One of the main complaints w/ Spotify is its lack of a "Pandora-Like" Radio option.  However, if you seed a playlist with specific songs and then start the Playlist, a "Start Radio" button appears- VIOLA, problem solved.

However, there isn't a "Start Radio" option linked to the Playlists in Sonos!!!  Please fix this...and yes, I'll post this suggestion on the Sonos site as well!

Unbelievable that neither Sonos nor Spotify has resolved this issue...I may send back my Sonos equipment and ditch Spotify as well.  Companies that are so unresponsive to customer's needs deserve to lose customers...

Agree with these posts, it would be a shame to cancel my subscription to spotify but if the radio isn't compatible with my sonos system then it would feel like money wasted !!

There is a work around that I've found for this... if you have a Spotify Compatible receiver (Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Yamaha, etc) and either a Connect or a Play 5, you can use the Spotify App to stream to your radio, and set your Sonos to 'Line-In' and have a wire out from the receiver to Sonos. In effect, all the glory of the radio app on your Sonos devices. Would love to see a more seamless approach, but once this is set up it's actually very easy.
