Audiobooks Listening Time - Rewinding

Audiobooks Listening Time - Rewinding

Does rewinding and re-listening to portions of an audiobook add time to the monthly allotted listening time?
I.e. A book is 8 hours, but I rewound parts and ended up listening to portions a second time that totalled 30 minutes.

Is the total listening time now 8.5 hours or is it still the length of the audiobook (8 hours)?

Hi there @JustJonelle,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

All listening counts toward your monthly allotment. If you relisten to a book, or part of the book, your allocated audiobook listening time will continue to reduce as normal. You can check out this article for more info about how the listening time works.

I read and listen to audiobooks quite a lot and am often reading multiple books and listening to multiple audiobooks at a time just as you watch various TV shows depending on your mood. If it's been a while since I've last read the book, I will often skim the last two chapters to catch up on where I was (like the recap at the start of the next episode of a TV series). With audiobooks, I usually go back a chapter or two, and then skip around through parts I remember. Since I'm often multitasking while listening to audiobooks, I find myself having to go back and listen to parts of previous chapters much more often - even sometimes within the same listening session because I've missed something and am confused.

It is so annoying AND a complete rip off that any time you spend re-listening to parts of an audiobook counts against the included 15 hours as well as the top up hours that you purchase. I fell asleep listening to an audiobook one night with the free hours, so I purchased the top up. I was confused and had to go back and forth multiple times to figure out what parts I remembered and didn't, and of course, the top up ran out before the book was even finished. I started the book at the beginning of the month with the included 15 hours, purchased an extra 10 hours, and I still wasn't able to finish the book...and, this is the best part...the book was only 10 hours and 5 minutes!!! ๐Ÿ˜ก

And it gets better. I was so into the novel that I didn't check Audible to see if it was available there - it was the same price for me to own the novel in my cloud collection as it was for me to purchase the "top up hours" that didn't even allow me to finish it. ๐Ÿคฃ Spotify audiobooks are a joke and are only worth it if you strategically plan out your included 15 hours.

The fact that relistening of an audiobook counts against your minutes is just plain ridiculous. In this case I would rather opt out of audiobooks on spotify and pay less ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
