Happening on two of my devices:
Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen, 2023 release)
Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen)
Issue
When playing the "DJ" station on my Echo Show devices, whenever it gets to the part where the DJ talks and switches up the music, instead of talking it just stops playing the music. This has been ongoing for a few months it used to work fine.
I use the DJ a lot and it works on my computer, my phone & in my CarPlay, but when using it with the echo show devices it does the above behavior on both my echo show 8 and echo show 5.
Hey there @feeding_ai,
Thanks for reaching out!
This is odd. Have you tried unlinking and relinking both accounts to see if that makes any difference?
You can also try resetting the Echo devices by following the steps here.
Keep us posted.
I’m also having this problem can I get help
Have you figured it out if so how?
No, unfortunately no fix yet. Let me know if you figure it out please.
Novy - the issue the OP, along with others, isn't fixed by resetting the Echo device. The issue, which I posted to Facebook, occurs when you ask any Echo device to play music on Spotify. If a user has a Bluetooth device (i.e., phone) paired to the Echo device and then asks Echo to play music on Spotify it doesn't occur. This, most likely, is an Amazon issue but would appreciate both parties working together to fix it.
Hey folks,
Thank you for your messages.
We appreciate the info all of you have included. To continue investigating this on our end, would you mind confirming if this happens only when the Bluetooth of your phone is turned on @RaveBro?
Also, could any of you check if playing the DJ playlist on your mobile and transferring the playback to the Echo using Connect makes any difference?
Lastly, since this could also be related to network permissions, would you mind checking with a different Wi-Fi network to see if the issue persists? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.
We'll be on the lookout for your responses.
I've given up using DJ on my echos since this problem was never fixed but since we're on the topic again, I just tried it two ways:
It does happen on bluetooth as well.
1.) I played DJ on Spotify from my phone connected to my Alexa. I tapped through the songs quickly so that the DJ would start talking. Works fine. I did this multiple times. I even tried tapping to the last song of the set and scrolling to the end of the song and letting the last song play out. Works fine. DJ talks and starts next set.
Then I tried again, connected my phone to the Alexa played DJ let a whole song play through, the DJ started to talk said 1 word and then it cut out. Now my phone is stuck on "Up next - DJ X". The Spotify app has a pause button ( as if it's currently playing) even though it's not. If I hit pause it turns to play, hit play still don't hear nothing. The only way to proceed is to hit the "Next Track" button.
Not sure why the longevity of a song playing plays into the bug happening but it seems to...
