Bug? - Can't add playlists to folders

Bug? - Can't add playlists to folders

Hello,

for some reason, I am unable to add my own playlists to playlist folders. I have created a folder, and when I try to drag playlists into the folder to add them, I see the + icon that looks like it is adding the playlist to the folder, but it does not actually get added. It just moves the playlist I am trying to add above the the folder I am trying to add it to.

I am using Spotify desktop on Windows 10.

Thanks

Hi again @user-removed,

Thanks for going through the troubleshooting with us.

Since the feature used to work normally until recently, it might be a bug connected to the latest update. However we couldn't reproduce this on our end so it's not excluded that the issue is account related. Could you try creating a test account with another email address and see if you can add playlists to folders on that one.

Thanks for keeping us posted!

I have tried to reinstall spotify and create new playlist into folder. the new playlist created on root-level.
my father told me he had the same root-level bug. he uses spotify premium with an iPhone 6s and the latest iOS version.
how can I open new premium account?

Hey there @user-removed,

Thank you for your post and confirmation.

We weren't able to recreate on iPhone 11 - version 8.5.85.

Can you let us know exactly what steps you're following so we can try to reproduce it on our end? A screen recording of the steps would also be handy.

It would also be great if you can let us know which version of the app you have?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply 🙂

Cheers!

I do not have the option to create a folder if I right-click my playlists. I did the clean reinstall, but I still do not have the option to create folders.

Hi there @cy2o,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

We understand you've done a clean reinstall and you're still missing the option to create folders. This sounds odd, so we'd like to get more info in order to try help.

Is the option completely missing for you when you right click with the mouse button over your Playlists on the left-hand side of the app window? If yes then could we ask you for a screenshot or a short video of how things appear on your end so we can take a closer look and provide you with a better answer.  Also please share with us the exact version of the Spotify app, that you're having on currently.

To check if this situation is account related, could we also ask you to ask a friend or relative to log in to your app with their account and to see if the option is available for them.

Let us know how you get on. We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

Hi

I didn't realise that I had to click on the playlists on the sidebar. I had been clicking on the playlists via library on computer. Now I got the option to create folders.

However, I was hoping that the folders would also appear in the library, where the playlists are. This way it is better organised and also, I can hide some playlists from the sight.

Also, the folders would be better if there was an option to add cover photos and descriptions as well.

Hey @xy2o,

Thanks for the reply.

Glad to hear that you can now create and manage your folders on Desktop.

Other users have also expressed that they'd like to be able to add cover images to folders. You can show your support by adding your vote to this Idea. Don't let the idea status discourage you. The more votes an idea gets, the more likely it is to get implemented.

There is another idea about displaying folders in your Library hereHere you can read more on how ideas work.

Hope you find this info helpful 🙂

Also having this issue on my computer, disappointed in the apparent lack of communication on spotify's end

Hi @sibhammy!

Could you give us a bit more info on what's happening on your end so we can get a clear understanding of what you mean? You should be able to create folders by right-clicking on a playlist from the left side panel on the desktop app / Web Player > Create folder. You should also have the ability to move existing playlists by dragging and dropping them into folders.

If you normally use the desktop app, could you try logging in on the Web Player instead to see if the issue persists there? If so, please share a short screen recording which showcases the app's behavior. Feel free to also share the troubleshooting done so far so we avoid repeating the steps.

Keep us posted on this. Cheers!
