My Question or Issue

I have a 2004 SAAB 9-3 Arc that has had a hands free call and audio kit from iSimple installed a couple months back. Since having this installed, car mode no longer turns on automatically and I do not see an option to manually turn it on yourself. Previously I had an FM transmitter that automatically used car mode every time it was connected. I have already clean uninstalled the Spotify app numerous times but no luck to being able to use car mode while I’m actually connected in the car. Any other way to go about being able to use it again? I even contemplated getting the car thing only to find out they no longer make it.

Hey folks,

Thanks to everyone that's posted in this thread!

At Spotify, we’re always looking for ways to make listening more seamless, wherever you are. There are multiple ways to enjoy listening to Spotify in the car and of those options, we found that Car Mode doesn’t offer a better in-car user experience. As a result we’ll be retiring it. To find out more about the different ways you can continue to listen to Spotify in the car, check out For the Record.

I also say bring it back. Some songs show a video in the background, instead of just album art, and it is distracting. None of my vehicles have those annoying infotainment screens.

Hi! Just found this thread and absolutely feel that car mode should be brought back. You have to know that the videos that artists attach to their songs is incredibly distracting while driving - it is much preferable to have the album art and the larger buttons. Please take that back to your team! Trust me, people will not be happy about this change!

My Question or Issue

I do not have car mode on my app. Everything I've read online says it's supposed to be under car under settings, but it's not there. I've tried deleting and re-downloading the app, but it's still missing. How can I fix this?

wth? Are Spotify that out of touch with their customer base?

I'll seriously be considering moving to another streaming provider.

I thoroughly disagree. As someone woth an older car it masicly improved the experience for me. It made skipping songs and listing to music with Google maps massively easier and more intuitive.

As per usual, Spotify is ruining the functionality of its app. I'm really not sure who is signing off on these decisions, and why they think it's what the customers want.

For safety's sake, bring it back!!! It is dangerous to try to find the small buttons, and even more so when the Song screen drops away to the Playlist or whatever other screen is behind the Song screen. Trying to get the song screen back has repeatedly almost caused an accident for me. You can save lives and scares by bringing it back! And the swipe left/right for previous/next gestures too easily try to swipe down, which closes the playback controls. This is dangerous while driving!!! And just annoying the rest of the time.

It is absolutely vital for public safety that you bring back the Car Mode. And a car more that locks the screen to the playback controls, preferably without the album art, and definitely no video featurette.

I don't want to end up in a ditch because I'm trying to find the buttons to change songs on my phone.

If you won't, then buy all your users new vehicles that can actually connect to a phone and have control buttons on the steering wheel.... probably would be cheaper to bring back the necessary app features.
