My Question or Issue
When playing is transferred to Chromecast like an album or a playlist songs are not finished. This happens both when transferred from Windows App or iPhone App. It does not make a difference whether the app is active or closed.
You can manually go to near the end and it will play completely.
Hey there,
Thanks for the reports and the info shared.
Please make sure you're running the latest version of the Spotify app (8.8.78 at the time of posting this) and let us know if you experience the same behavior. If you do, we'd need a vide recording of the experience together with the device make, model and OS.
Keep us posted.
Cheers!

Hey @5v3nla,
Thanks for the info shared.
We really appreciate the time you took to record and send us the video. Would you mind double-checking if perhaps you have updates pending for the app as per today? You can go to the Play Store and check.
If yes, try and let us know if you still notice this behavior when casting to the Chromecast.
Keep us in the loop!
Hi @AlejaR,
no updates pending in the Play Store as per today.
Kind regards,
Sven
Since the moderators didn't answer to my previous question, I ask again.
Moderators - have you even tried casting music by yourselves? The issue is very easy to reproduce, just start any playlist, even those generated by Spotify to any casting destination from any source (mobile, PC, tablet) and you'll notice the issue.
1. Pixel 6 pro and Pixel 6
2. Spotify 8.8.78
3. Issue only happen on Chromecast (POLK Magnifi Max AX)
4. it happens to all playlists but less frequent since 8.8.78 update
Hi,
currently running 8.8.80.599. Still the same issue.
Thanks
Dear Spotify-support,
just to add myself, I also experience this issue. It does not matter if I start playing a playlist or if I let Spotify choose the music after playing one song. Every song is cut off a few seconds too early. This does not happen when Spotify plays the songs on the smartphone or via Bluetooth.
1. Shiftphone 6mq, OnePlus 6, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
2. Spotify version 8.8.80.599
3. Google Chromecast Gen. 1
Hope you can fix this as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Please please please look into this issue. It’s driving me crazy.
I also have the same problem when broadcasting from GoogleCast, please help!
Hey folks,
The team has rolled out a fix for this issue. If anyone is still experiencing this, make sure that everything is up to date and share your device model, OS version and Spotify version.
Thanks!
Finally works well, great support and thank you team, thanks. Samsung S23 Ultra, Android 14, Spotify 8.8.82.634
Issue seems to be resolved with version 8.8.82.634
Thanks a lot to support and dev team.
Yes, finally the issue seems to have been solved! I've casted several different playlists and the issue hasn't occured even a single time.
What was the root cause? And why did it take almost half a year to solve it? As a paying customer I expect issues like this to be solved much faster. When raising the issue to the support and in this forum, all I got from Spotify was to make sure I had the latest version of the app, which I had all the time. I got the feeling that support and moderators in this forum wasn't taking the issue seriously but instead assuming it was an end-user-fault.
I'll ask once more, since no moderator answered to my questions: did you even try casting by yourselves to try to replicate the issue?
