Chromecast not showing in Spotify App

Solved!

Chromecast not showing in Spotify App

I have 5 Chromecast Audios in hour home, connected to speakers (kitchen, outside, basement, etc). Within Google Cast all are shown, and it mentions I can open Spotify App to go 'casting'. It has been working since I installed the Chromecasts. It works on my wifes mobile (Samsung S6), and on my kids (Iphones of course). I have a Samsung S7, and as said, it has worked for months. And suddenly it has stoppen; when I open the Spotify App, it does not show that there are 'devices nearby' which normally let me choose between the different rooms. And again, it is working for my wife and kids. I have tried installing Spotify again on my phone, I have turned down the WiFi routers (but I am absolutely on the same netwerk). Any ideas; I'm getting crazy ! Why is this suddenly not working anymore ? We are on a family plan, btw. Thanks ! Robert-Jan

Same problem has occurred with my phone over the last 24 hours. It has worked fairly seamlessly for the last year (occasional issues, simply resolved by closing Spotify and relaunching) but not this time around.

Deleted & reinstalled Spotify. Google home connects to chromecast audio itself with no issues at all, but the device is no longer listed in Spotify.

Oneplus 1 phone. Not the most up to date phone I know but until yesterday this hasn't been a problem.

My Chromecast audio suddenly stopped showing up in my device lost as well. I even went as far as factory resetting the CCA quadruple checking the wifi. The CCA works through my Google home app. Just not Spotify. Already uninstalled and reinstalled the app. No updates.... C'mon spotify please get this fixed.

Same here. Worked fine until yesterday. Something happened and there is no connection, the Spotify app can't see the CC and I cant fix it, tried everything. This is my second day as premium user, and I'm very dissapointed 😞

Nexus 5

Chromecast Audio

New problems introduced in latest updates of Spotify app.

ALWAYS drops connection after a while = keeps on playing but can't change volume from phone.

Spotify also disappears from Android pre-login screen while still playing. This happens even when not using Chromecast.

Huawei P10

Same problem, in the last 24-48 hours spotify and google cast no longer works.

All mitigations such as rebooting devices, networks, etc does nothing.

Spotify/Google Cast integration, a absolutely critical feature for many users, has always been intermittent and unreliable.  Now, a complete showstopping bug seems to be introduced.

I cannot use Spotify in my home at all now.  Please fix asap.

VERY DISSAPOINT

Started yesterday for me too. At least I'm not the only one it happened
for. I've had premium for a while now and it's been amazing other than this
issue.

Hi all, i've find a solution that worked for me !!!!!

I'm using Samsung Galaxu J5 2016

I've forced the Chrome browser in Windows 10 to cast Spotify web playerand my Chromecast audio is now visible through my Android :

1. Launch Chrome web browser on Win10

2. Go to spotify web player and Play a song

3. Cast this song through chrome web browser to your chromecast audio

4. Open spotify app on Android

5. You will see your chromecast in the List !!!!!

6. turn off spotify web browser, it now works on Android !!!!!!

Same issue with my OnePlus 3T, neither my Chromecast or my Chromecast Audios show up anymore.

Works fine with other apps.

It was working fine i was using it every day now I have also got this issue it's not working, cromecast is works in evey other app

On my phone using view desktop site, the web player crashes every time I open it and goes back a screen. And on my laptop connected to the right wifi it's still not visible

Same here on Android 8.1

Nothing has changed on my side. No Spotify update, no Chromecast Audio firmware update, no Google Home app update, no Google Play Services update, no Router firmware update, no Android update ... This seems to be a NEW problem with Spotify Connect!

But it really sounds like the Google Chromecast/Home bug mentioned by camillo75 ( https://www.myce.com/news/confirmed-issue-google-cast-causes-temporarily-wifi-drops-around-world-834... ) could be causing the ORIGINAL problem in this thread!

Same issue here, very frustating. Tried all reboot / reset / reinstall stuff. Chromecasts working fine with Play Music.

Yes, sounds like that bug. Applies to me, I have an Asus router, although not a "later" Android version. Still on Marshmallows with Nexus 5.

If this is the bug, then Google is looking in to it right now:

Temporary Workaround for this Issue:

If you cannot see your cast device listed on Spotify, simple say "Ok, Google cast Spotify to [name of your chromecast device]"

For this to work, you should have apps Google Home and Google Assistant loaded on your phone.

Something has obviously just changed with Spotify/Chromecast that has transformed an intermittant problem into a widespread issue. Hopefully, they'll figure it out soon!

Adding to the list as well. Worked fine a day or so ago, suddenly will not see CCAs on network. Pandora works perfectly, and the Home app shows them all. Just Spotify is the issue. Hopefully a fix is released soon.

Sorry, but this is a workaround - not a solution..

And btw, much easier workround is to launch your Google assistant and say "Ok, Google cast Spotify to [name of your chromecast device]"

It will connect no problem. However, this is still a problem Spotify should fix ASAP

Same here, roughly since yesterday. Spotify connecting to Chromecast was always a bit of an instable issue, but now it just disappeared in the app, until I connect Spotify on my laptop via the cast function of Chrome.

6. turn off spotify web browser, it now works on Android !!!!!!

Yes, until you restart Spotify, close the connection, etc. This is a *very* temporal fix, not a structural one (and still a **bleep**, as a matter of fact).

What works temporarily for me is to close spotify in the aplication list on Android. When I restart I can reconnect to CCAudio. Same problem again after a while though.

Figured it out. I bet others are having the same problem. My router somehow blocked that one chromeaudio. Unblocked and been working fine again.
