Connect doesn't work with Yamaha recievers-has this been fixed?

My Question or Issue

I see this has been an ongoing problem with Yamaha receivers for several years. I just bought a new N303 and having same issues that the receiver doesn't show up in the Spotify app. I see plenty of other media receivers and one greyed out called living room. That is the name of the room that the Yamaha is in so if it is using that as a name rather than the name of the receiver, then it sees it but is greyed out.

 

Any idea if there is a work around? Thanks

UPDATE:  I mentioned this issue to Yamaha tech support and they must have taken it seriously because they now have a firmware update that fixes the issue. I installed it last night and now Spotify works!

 

The update is not yet listed on their website but if you have a rn303 , it should advise you of the update in their Music cast app.

Can you try to restart your router to see if the issue persist?

If that doesn't do the trick, we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Thanks for the reply. Rebooting made no change. The app is new - just
installed it Sunday. Just got the Yamaha Friday pm so that their app is new
as well.

Pretty sure spot sees the Yamaha, but it is just greyed out if that helps.
It sees 2 android tv players just fine. fwiw.

Airplay is the work around I am using for now.

Would you mind trying with a different internet connection to check if that makes the difference? Also, we suggest that you check this article for more info. 

 

On another note, could you send us a screenshot of what you're seeing on your end (in which we can see the greyed out device) so we can take a closer look?

I can do a screen shot but pretty sure I know what the issue is now. One of
your older posts mentioned that my unit needed a firmware update from
Yamaha before it will work with spotify again. Apparently it did work at
one time but not anymore. Back in Dec, Yamaha did issue firmware updates
for it's brothers and sister models, but not my exact model. I will contact
Yamaha and see if they are going to release a firmware fix. Until then I
can use airplay.

Sorry to waste your time with a problem that's on Yamaha's end..
