Developing a Free client

Hi,

I'm building a Raspberry Pi based valve-amplified MP3 player, housed in a restored Westminster radio case:

I'd like to write a simple Free client that uses the user specified credentials to start playing a particular playlist ('Westiamp', which is the name of the project).

Presumably I'll need an API key for this, as per the documentation.  But releasing the API key along with the source code bothers me, as it's tied to my account.

Is it possible to get an API key just for a particular Free Software project?  I.e., one for this player specifically?  Or should I just release my API key along with the source code?
