Discover Weekly is not updating

Discover Weekly is not updating

My Discover Weekly playlist is not updating on any platform, which so far has been Android and Windows 10. I have done a clean reinstall as per these instructions; https://community.spotify.com/t5/FAQs/How-can-I-perform-a-clean-reinstall-of-the-app/ta-p/4746485

This has not fixed my issue. I have had the same playlist of songs for multiple months now.

EDIT:

I'm going to eat some crow right now; It appears the playlist is "updating" every week, but the content is the exact same genre every week (LoFi), but I haven't listened to LoFi in months. I never paid particular attention to the actual music, just that it never seemed to change. I would still appreciate some help and guidance.

Hi @audiologic1! Thanks for reporting this and welcome to the Community!

The Discover Weekly it's a playlist updated every Monday morning through music you usually like (by clicking on the "heart" icon), Artists you follow and, songs that you add to your personal playlists, for this, Spotify's algorithm needs you constantly like songs, follow Artists or even just add some songs to your playlists over time to get used to your taste, sometimes it takes a while to generate a new Discover Weekly playlist.

You can visit this page from an announcement made by Spotify about this playlist to get some tips to make it even better!

Hope it helps! Let me know if you have any other additional questions.

Take care!

Mateus.

This isn't my issue though. It's been the same playlist for months. I
haven't listened to the genre of music it shows in months either, so it
shouldn't be the same even if it was working.

Hi @audiologic1! Thanks for getting back to me!

Ok, so can you confirm if this Discover Weekly playlist is the exact playlist made for you under Discover New Music Section on your Made for you Hub?

To check that, please, just go to Search > Made for you > Discover New Music

The playlist you're talking about is under this section? Is it the same?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

It's the same.

Hi, again @audiologic1!

Humm... Well, it's pretty weird! If you don't mind, could you please take a screenshot of your Discover Weekly playlist songs on the Desktop/Web app and send it to us (only at the beginning of the playlist)? Or you can just check the column DATE ADDED and tell us how many days are showing there. This column can tell us better how many days ago these songs were added.

I'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi again @audiologic1,

Thanks for keeping in touch and for that info.

Since the playlist is indeed updating weekly, then we suggest following the recommendations you'll find in this article to improve your upcoming Discover Weekly songs selection.

We suggest listening to and following new artists and genres so the algorithm starts taking those into consideration. As a heads-up, this can take several weeks.

Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Cheers!

This isn't fixed. The songs might be changing but the genre is exactly the same as it was when it first got stuck (LoFi). I haven't listened to LoFi music for months.

Hi @audiologic1,

Thank you for giving us more insights about this.

In this case, since your Discover Weekly list is updating regularly, we can only suggest you to keep listening to more of your preferred genres, this way the personalized lists will eventually pick up on those tastes.

Also, we suggest you remove the unwanted songs from those lists. You can find more info on how to do it in this article.

Cheers.

I feel as though I'm not really being heard. My playlist is not updating correctly. Is that more appropriate? I would just love it if someone flipped a switch at Spotify HQ to reset my playlist.

Hey there @audiologic1,

Thanks for the reply.

It's not possible for anyone at Spotify or any user to manually reset their recommendation algorithm. That is being automatically generated based on your listening activity.

If you really dislike it, you can always make a new account to start fresh. You can follow this guide to transfer you listening activity.

If you don't want to go that far, @Novy's advice is the best way to go forward.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

Discover Weekly was my favorite aspect of Spotify by a wide margin. It saddens me that I am not able to use it anymore as it no longer accurately reflects my listening history.
