Hey folks!

Just a follow-up here 🙂

Regarding the in-app messages with a 'Sponsored Recommendation' tag:

You’ll see them for artists you follow or listen to a lot and they will only appear when you first navigate to Home. They won’t interrupt your music listening experience.

Opting out of them is possible for Premium subscribers. To do so -  tap on
What's this? the next time you receive a notification. From there you can stop them from showing for the artist you've received the notification from, or stop them showing altogether.

Regarding the in-app concert recommendations:

It is not possible to turn off in-app concert recommendations (or any other in-app messages in general), unlike email and push notifications which are sent outside of the app and can be turned off. We're making improvements on this matter.

Hope this clears things up!

Hey @C1L0,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

If all notifications are set to off, you shouldn't be receiving any. So to investigate the case further, make sure to have your Spotify app updated and include in your next response a screenshot where we can see the ads you're mentioning.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hey guys, late last year I switched to Apple music and its way better. I got an app that in few clicks transfers playlists. The sound is better, most of the extremely rare music I listen to was there (i am 98% on obscurify), and it just works like old spotify before this bloat entered the chat. Apple lets you see a list of songs that you just played. Imagine that.

Spotify has been the worst with this type of thing for too long. I have used Spotify for more than 15 years, paid for most of that time. Loved the quick interface and deep cut selection. But the sound quality never caught up, the focus stopped being music, and now I am forced to get ads for a concert by some rapper who did a feature verse on some other artists song without an off switch. Why no off switch? Cause bros got PAID. pretty soon a paid tier with ads is coming, you watch.

Jump ship ya'll. Money is the only vote they care about.

Love you all! Peace ✌️

Hey folks!

Good news - we've looked into this with the team and this should now be fixed!

Make sure you're running the latest app version by following the steps over at this page.

Cheers!

Please get rid of the in app pop up ads for concert. I am already paying for Premium, why do you show me ads for some random concerts?

Is it possible to somehow completely disable the concert feature, or at least stop Spotify from giving me these banners on top of t he app.

PLEASE STOP THIS IT'S SO ANNOYING. Why do people pay premium prices to get bombarded with ads anywahy? This **bleep**. Aren't there laws against this kind of spiritual RAPE? Every 10 minutes it keeps telling me about concerts I don't want to go with and even if there was a 1% chance I would go anyway, I out of spite would not go because of how intrusive the advertising for it is. Every year Spotify keeps getting worse and worse and I hope apple music fixes their awful navigation system and interface (at least they don't have annoying pop ups) so Spotify can go bankrupt and close. It's like they have an entire department dedicated to sitting around and trying to think of new ways to annoy people and agitate them

do you think that a GDPR complaint could work?

Spotify premium is supposed to be without ads. And this is clearly pushing advertisements.

this is such a weird "feature" to push on the user without an opt out option.  one possible solution is to unfollow the artist that it happens with but obviously thats not ideal.

All of my notifications are off and yet I have closed this ad 6-7 times in the past week. Takes up screen real-estate and is a distraction while driving. Constantly shoving sh!t features down premium users' throats that are paying for an ad-free experience. F you!

FYI, not sure if this will work but after over an hour on chat support, I got to this point. Still have to test for the next few days but worth a shot for others in here too if you have an hour or so to kill. Make sure to speak to a supervisor. First person I messaged with was clueless and was rambling on about other companies being to blame, telling me to delete the app, the usual works. Hope this helps!

Yes, I went through the same process on support chat.

Despite being told it would stop notifications, it did not.

That's really messed up. No ads for me yet but it hasn't been that long so far...

unfollowing artists does not help, we've tried

Spotify shows in app concert recommendations with no way to turn them off! A lot of people including me find it outrageous that even premium users are shown these ads.

I wen't ahed and submitted this as an idea / feature request, please everyone cast your vote so we can get some attention on this topic.

List of solutions that did NOT work (according to this thread and the web):

  • unfollowing artists
  • setting location to some remote place without concerts
  • contacting support
  • turning all notification settings off

For the love of everything good in the world YES. Give me a way to turn this off. I have no interest at all in concerts and nagging me repeatedly is not going to change my mind. It’s so upsetting that I not only get annoyed with Spotify, but I also now no longer listen to the artist. I don’t think “lose fans” is what the artist ad spend was supposed to go towards.

Hey oscar,

Verified that all notifications were set to off, app was up to date, then got another today.
The ad appeared on my main home page when i opened it for the first time today.

Just got another soon after.
Might be worth mentioning i am not the plan manager of my family plan?

I would vote but the link I clicked doesn't have a place to. Can you double check it's the one you intended to include?

you are right, the link does not point to it's initial intended place, they merged my idea request with another topic which is about pop up ads rather the ones we see on the top of the screen...

Yeah, unfortunately not. The only solution is stop using Spotify. It’s been a week so far without, and it’s been good 👌
