Hey, still have the same problem !
Hi there @sduerfeldt,
Thanks for your post here in the Community and welcome!
First up, we'd recommend checking if the Spotify app and your Roku have pending updates. If they do, then update them and restart your Roku by going into Home > Settings > System > Power > System Restart. If there are no updates, just restart the Roku and check if that makes a difference.
If that doesn't help, open Spotify on your Roku and make sure both your phone and Roku are connected to the same WiFi. Open Spotify on your mobile and play something, then go to the devices section and check if Roku comes up. If so, select it and let us know if that opens Spotify correctly on the Roku.
Lastly, try removing Spotify from your Roku and then add it again:
Let us know how that goes.
I am now having this problem as well. I tried launching to my roku from my app on my phone and it keeps disconnecting even though my wifi and everything is fine. When I try launching straight from the roku it's stuck on the "Who's Listening" screen and when I click on mine it does absolute nothing.
Hello, I have the same issue. I have removed and re added the Spotify channel from my Roku multiple times and the Spotify channel will not open. I also have tried connecting from my phone to my Roku and that does not work either. I have removed the roku as a Spotify device and tried to re-add it as a device and it does not open. When I do this, my phone shows that Spotify is "playing from Roku 3" but the TV does not respond or open the app at all.
I have also asked my sister if she can play Spotify on her Roku to see if it was our account, but she was able to open and play Spotify through her Roku.
Hello I have this same issue. I have deleted and redownloaded the roku channel multiple times. I have deleted and redownloaded the app on my phone multiple times and deleted the cache. I believe only my Roku is having this issue because my sister was able to open and listen to Spotify on her Roku. When I try to play on my phone then move to device Roku, the phone says "playing on Roku 3," but my TV does not change or respond at all.
My network connection is fine.
My Roku is model 4230X, software 13.0.0.
I have deleted and redownloaded Spotify on both my phone and Roku, so both are the most recent versions.
Thanks for joining the thread @claraeileen99!
If you're still having issues with Spotify on Roku, we recommend also checking out their community and testing with the suggested troubleshooting steps there. You can have a look at this and this thread.
Keep us posted and it'd be great if you could share any workarounds that helped or made any difference for you, so that any other users experiencing this can also test.
Appreciate the cooperation and we from the Community are here if anything else comes up in the meantime 🙂
We are still having this same issue. We have removed and readded deleted cache, tried the phone playing transferrring to tv trick... Nothing works. We returned our TV just for this reason and bought anther one just to get this to work, and still not working!? Please update the app so it works. Thank you
Also have same problem today. Not used on Roku for some weeks until today. Updated Roku, deleted and reinstalled Spotify. Spotify starts loading, then drops out immediately after user icon appears.
Spotify has completely stopped working on Roku. I tried everything mentioned above including removing the app and reinstalling, it didn't work. I only see the same who's listening circle and cannot login to my account. I have tried logging into it through my phone, It appears to work, the song starts but after 1-2 seconds I am kicked back out to the same screen. I thought I was upset when you added video commercials that crash the app every time they play, and I have to restart my music a thousand times a day. I will never be paying for this garbage of a service, I can tell you that much right now.
Same issue here!
Im having the same issue as of 12/11/2024. Extremely frustrating. Tried all of the above troubleshooting options and nada.
I'm having the same issue. TV isn't responding at all. I've paired multiple times using all methods provided. I'll get a message saying that pairing is successful, but the screen stays frozen. I try to stream through my phone to the Roku stick and the song looks like it's playing but it's not working on the TV. Super frustrating. And not finding a direct line to any customer support
I’ve got the same problem it’s really making me frustrated I’m going mental 😭
This is my first time dealing with Spotify support. Pretty unimpressive.. I was supposed to get an email from "technical team" 8 hrs ago. Still nothing. Anyone else getting any solutions?
Maybe its time for everyone to switch to Apple Music
I too am having this exact same issue.
I've been having the same issue for about a week now. It has impacted all 5 of the Roku boxes in my home, as well as a single FireTV set top box. In each case, the app would open to the Spotify logo, but the app would never fully load. The issue did not impact the Spotify app on my mobile phone regardless of whether I was connected to my home network or my mobile carrier.
While troubleshooting, I actually connected one of my Roku boxes to the Internet via the hotspot feature of my mobile phone, and the Spotify app opened and ran just fine. This pointed to either an issue with my home Internet Service Provider as compared to my Mobile Service Provider, or an issue with my local network configuration. After several hours of troubleshooting, I was able to isolate the issue to the IPv6 setting in my home router. My mobile phone hotspot has IPv6 enabled by default, whereas I had this setting disabled on my home router. Once I togged IPv6 setting in my router to enabled, the Spotify app started working on all the devices in my home.
Not sure why this made a difference, as the Roku Box itself appears to be using IPv4, but apparently Spotify recently updated something in their set-top box app that requires IPv6. If you are having similar issues, try enabling IPv6 to see if it helps.
