Language Preference

Issue: Recommendations and generated playlists include music in multiple languages.

Sub Issue: Disliking them does not result in less music in other languages.

Solution: Allow users to select their music language preference.

Use this to inform and restrict music recommendations to users in the languages they prefer. 

To be clear, as this was closed and pointed to a location suggestion (That's been ignored since 2016), language is not the same as geo-location. English music isn't the only language that comes out of America, similarly, Canada has two official languages and music in both.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we'd like to add some insights. The previous idea you kindly posted was closed because this existing one, and even though they're not quite the same, they serve the same purpose: being able to change the origin of the recommendations you received in the app.

Rest assured, the existing idea isn't being ignored. Keep in mind that having a popular idea doesn't mean it'll be automatically implemented, as there are other factors that need to be taken into consideration. However, we can confirm the feedback has reached our internal teams; nevertheless, as explained in the status of the idea, it's not something we're prioritizing at the moment, but this doesn't mean it'll never happen as things can change in the future, and if they do, we'll let everyone interested in the idea know.

We understand where you're coming from, and we really appreciate the time you took to post your suggestion. We'd recommend leaving the feedback of what you'd like to see implemented as a comment on that idea, so if there are any updates in the future, the team in charge can take a look at all the feedback left by users in the comments.

Again, it’s not the origin of the recommendations. Languages are not
geolocated. Where the music is produced doesn’t mean it’s going to be in a
specific language.

I fully recognize Spotify doesn’t care about this idea or feedback after
years of being “not a priority”. Really makes me question why I even have a
premium account at this point.
