Let's Talk About Smart Shuffle Shall We?

I don't see very many people on here with positive reviews of the playlist option you cannot disable, Smart Shuffle.

I went looking for a way to disable it yesterday when suddenly, my playlist would get moved from regular old Shuffle to Smart Shuffle. I would choose the option to go back to Shuffle, automatically goes back to Smart Shuffle. Okay, weird. Turn Shuffle off completely, automatically back to Smart Shuffle.

I came here looking for insights on how to fix the issue to find out, surprise surprise, this issue has been going on since JULY. Not only that but there has been no input or update on the situation as far as I could see. I'm sure Spotify has been hard at work trying to figure the issue out for several months. Meanwhile, we the clients are left with an app that we can't even use properly anymore.

I finally said "**bleep** with it" and have moved back to YouTube like I had been using before getting Spotify.

I'd like to propose that those of us who are tired of dealing with this nonsense decide a date for them to make a change to the platform or we simply cancel our subscriptions and leave. If there is a large enough threat to their income with subscriptions, perhaps there might be movement.

Good news! Spotify has listened to user feedback and you can now disable Smart Shuffle from the mobile app settings, as mentioned in this now implemented idea. This setting will also be added to the desktop app in a future update.

Steps to disable Smart Shuffle in the mobile app:

1: Tap on your profile picture at the top left corner

2: Tap on Settings and privacy

3: Tap on Playback

4: Switch Include Smart Shuffle in play modes off

Note: This is for Premium users only and right now it's only available in the mobile app, but in a future update, there will be a setting to disable Smart Shuffle in the desktop app as well.
